New Visitor Management System Strengthens Safety for EPS

ENID, OK - A new visitor management system is making local schools even safer places to learn for Enid Public Schools students.
-
Ident-A-Kid is a simple to use software system that allows schools to quickly account for who is entering and exiting buildings using an ID sign-in process.
-
Visitors scan their state-issued driver’s license or ID for a security screening that reveals whether or not the individual is listed on the National Sexual Offender Registry. If the screening finds a confirmed match, the individual will not be permitted to enter the school.
-
“There is nothing more important than the safety of our students and staff,” Dr. Darrell Floyd said. “Thanks to the generous support of the 2016 bond program, we have been able to place an even greater emphasis on safety and security – with the implementation of the Ident-A-Kid visitor management system and the construction of new secure entrance vestibules, among other facility improvements.”

The visitor management system is currently in place at all EPS sites. Beginning September 4, campuses will require parents and visitors to present a valid state-issued ID in order to enter the school. Those without an ID will be allowed to manually enter their information but must present an alternative document that includes his/her legal name.
-
Entrance to the school past the office without a state-issued ID will be at the discretion of the school principal. Those without an ID can learn how to apply for one by visiting www.enidpublicschools.org/noDL .
-
“We hope to make this transition as smooth as possible for parents and visitors,” Floyd said. “We believe our schools can be welcoming without compromising student safety. Ident-A-Kid helps make this possible.”
-
Floyd said this initiative is part of the EPS Strategic Action Plan to provide and maintain exemplary facilities that are clean, safe, and secure for all students.
