Enid, Oklahoma - June 1966
Here's a fun newspaper clipping from June 1966 sent to us by Jo Aguirre. The page shows old movie advertisments. One ad is for the Chief, located downtown on Independence. The cost of a nightly show was $1.50 for adults and .50 for kids.

Another ad is for the Trail Drive-In and another for the Esquire located on Randolph on the Square. Walt Disney's
Bambi was just being released and John Wayne
was the king of the box office.

What I love most about this ad is the smaller ad at the top. It's an ad for Sandy's, one of the restaurants I most remember as a kid growing up in Enid. I remember the dancing girl logo on top of the sign out front. And who could pass up a quality hamburger for 15 cents?!

The Geronimo Car
The Geronimo Motor Co. was organized at Enid in 1916 by Will C. Allen. Located on a five-acre tract at the intersection of Cleveland and Oklahoma Streets, the Geronimo Company produced more than 1,000 cars, plus a number of tractors and trailers, before the plant was destroyed by fire in 1920. The Geronimo came in four-cylinder or six-cylinder and the colors blue, black or red. The Four was the biggest seller and sold for $895. The Geronimo Six sold for $1,295.
