The memorial services celebrating the life of William “Bill” Phillip Peters, Jr. 65 of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 22, 2016 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Enid Police Department Honor Guard will be presenting the flag. Complete cremation services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Bill was born April 17, 1951 in Chanute, Kansas to William Phillip, Sr. and Lavelle Downs Peters, and passed away October 19, 2016 in Enid. Bill grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas where he graduated from College High School. He attended Pittsburg State University and graduated in 1973. On February 8, 1975, Bill married Lynnette Smith in Ringwood, OK. He was a police officer with the City of Enid from 1979 until retirement in 2000. At the time of his retirement, he was a sergeant assigned as a DARE officer. In April of 2000 he took employment with the Enid Public School Police Department. He is a member of First United Methodist Church and Oklahoma Dare Officer’s Association. Among many achievements, Bill was awarded Officer of the Year in 1991 and State DARE Officer of the Year in 1995. Bill’s greatest thrill and most enjoyment and satisfaction was marriage to Lynnette, their two children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of the home; son, Bill Peters, III of Muskogee, OK; daughter, Ashley Lynn Thomas & husband Collin of Olathe, KS; granddaughters, Teagan and Adelaide; sister, Karine Owens of Enid.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
