Wallace “Wally” Leslie Fuller

Wallace-Fuller-1470148806Wallace “Wally” Fuller, 94, peacefully left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday morning, July 30th, 2016 with his family reading him scripture at his bedside. Wally resided at Garden Terrance of Overland Park these last few years where the loving staff cared for him as one of their own family. He was much loved. Wally was preceded in death by his “beautiful wife Dorothy” (his words), of 66 years in June of 2011. Wally was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Survivors include 2 children, daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Dr. Carl “Bucky” Hitchcock of Overland Park, KS; son Steve Fuller and daughter-in-law Cathy of Katy, TX. Wally and Dorothy had 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great, grandsons. Wally also leaves many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Wally had many friends and never met a stranger.

Wally and Dorothy were married December 28, 1944 in Oklahoma City, OK and moved to Enid in 1947. Wally worked at Cliff’s Camera Shop until he retired in 1984 after 33 years. Upon retirement, he opened “Wally’s Darkroom” where he continued to apply his considerable darkroom skills restoring old photographs for people throughout northwest Oklahoma.

Wally served his country during WWII in the Pacific theater as a proud Marine Corporal. Wally flew in the famous B-24 Liberator as a reconnaissance photographer and waist gunner, completing many critical missions. In recognition of his accomplishments he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal for heroism. Wally was a true American hero, who loved his Savior, his family, his church, and his country.

In his later years, Wally enjoyed yardwork (best yard in the neighborhood), watching sports, and especially cheering on the Thunder, OU and OSU Men’s’ and Women’s basketball teams. He was also well known for his puns, poetry, and cheerful disposition. His considerable wit will be missed.
A celebration of Wally’s life will be at Anderson Burris Funeral Home 3002 N. Van Buren Enid, OK at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016. Visitation will be from 7:00-8:00 PM Friday August 5th at Anderson Burris. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Mission Fund in honor of Wally Fuller.
