OI953050071_TomiRogerspictureforwebsiteTomi Jill Rogers of Medford Oklahoma passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 19th, 2016 after losing a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Christian Church in Medford, OK, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 2PM. under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service, Medford.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Tomi was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Being an avid reader, she traveled the world and had insights into cultures her body never took her. Her love of community and camaraderie offered her a successful career as the City of Medford librarian from 1988 to 2010. Tomi loved her patrons and had a knack for knowing the perfect book for each person.

Known for her ease in frequent conversation with loved ones and total strangers alike, Tomi was a friend to everyone. Even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile, an entertaining sense of humor, and attentiveness to those around her. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiles, laughter, and joie de vivre, will never be forgotten.

Tomi Jill was born in Enid, OK, on March 30, 1948 to Elmer and Marsaline “Scottie” Sawyer. She graduated from Medford High School in 1966 and went on to attend Oklahoma State University. She then spent the next 20 years as a homemaker; fulfilling her life-long dream of raising a family. In 1988, she married Coleman David Rogers. She is survived by her husband, Coleman David Rogers; children, Andrew Joseph and partner Paul Pearson, Mary Callahan and her husband Billy, Megan Ferda and her husband Paul, Johnny Rogers, LeaAnne Purdy and her husband Lonnie, Daniel Rogers and his wife Alea; and her grandchildren Brentley Callahan and wife Emily, Ryan Shelton, Bentley Rogers, Charlee Rogers, and Phoenix Rogers, and great granddaughter Piper Callahan. She was preceded in death by grandparents Ray and Ethel Sprague and Lorenzo and Mary Sawyer; parents Elmer Sawyer and Marsaline Sawyer Eulberg, and son David Rogers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
