Samuel F. Evans

June 24, 1930 - February 15, 2022

Samuel F. Evans of Melrose, FL, born June 24, 1930, died after a long illness, on February 15, 2022. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma to the late Wilfred W. and Lillian Mehew Evans. He served in the US Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended school at the University of Oklahoma and is a graduate of the School of Business Administration and moved to Gainesville, Florida to attend the University of Florida College of Architecture. He practiced Architecture until a week before his death in Melrose, Gainesville, Winter Park and Jacksonville, Florida and held various positions with Evans, McVoy and Associates, Architects; Reynolds, Smith, & Hills, Architects; Duval County School Board Architect; Offshore Power Systems Facilities Architect and T. C. Skinner and Associates, Architects. He also practiced until a week before his passing through his own firm of Sam F. Evans, Architect LLC. He was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and was a member of Community Church of Keystone Heights.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Lyons of Melrose, FL. His children include sons Ryan and wife Anette Lyons-Evans of Boca Raton, David Evans and wife, Cricket of Longwood, FL, Mark Evans and wife , Joanne of Weeki Wachee, John Evans and wife, Sheila of Gibsonton, daughters Lynn Evans Gray and husband, Geoff of St. Augustine, and Rebecca Lyons-Evans of Melrose, FL. Grandchildren include: Lauren Nidositko(John), Danielle Neuhaus(Monty), Elizabeth Gray (Gregory Scott), Jennifer Evans, Sienna and Elliot Lyons-Evans and Donald Joseph Evans (DJ). He leaves behind 5 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Sally Baker of Tulsa, OK.

A Celebration of Life will be held for close friends and family members at his Swan Lake home on a date to be determined in March . Contact the Community Church of Keystone Heights for the details.
