July 19, 1934 - July 30, 2025
A Celebration of Life service for Ronald Blair, age 91, of Enid, Oklahoma, will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Anderson Burris Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Dwayne Schroeder officiating. Ron passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, after a long, full life lived with optimism, curiosity, and a quiet charm that never faded.
Born in Perry, Oklahoma on July 19, 1934 to James and Rose Blair, Ron grew up in Perry, Oklahoma, a town that would shape his values and hold a lifetime of memories. It was there, in eighth grade, that he began dating a girl named Barbara Postelwait, who would eventually become his wife and constant companion. They were married for 69 years, building a life anchored by love, commitment, and four children.
Ron spent much of his career in the grocery industry working for Bond Bread, Gold Spot Dairy, Wonder Bread and United Supermarkets, but his interests extended far beyond the workplace. He was a lifelong learner, always reading a new book, doing a word search puzzle, playing on his computer or tuning into an old western movie. Though he belonged to a generation born long before smartphones and social media, Ron made a valiant effort to keep up with new technologies and even had a Facebook account.
He was a friendly neighbor, a gentle conversationalist, and the opposite of the stereotypical “grumpy old man.” Ron greeted life’s later chapters with kindness and grace. He loved sports, especially the OKC Thunder Basketball and never passed up a chance to share a good story. In fact, he often became fast friends with the nurses and caregivers who helped him through various health challenges over the years.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Barbara, and his daughter Kelly Hawkins (Don). He is survived by his three children: Robin Finch (Steve), Rhonda Skrapke (Rick), Ronnie Blair and their respective families.
Even in his final years, Ron found joy in the small things: a visit with neighbors, a game on TV, or a warm breeze through the open window. His life was long, well-lived, and filled with connections that spanned generations. He will be deeply missed by those that have known and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests taking a moment to greet a neighbor and invite them to join you on your porch for an evening of conversation - just as Ron would have done.
