Patricia Anderson

4008186_wlppMemorial services honoring the life of Patricia Anderson, 79, of Enid will be held on Monday November 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Central Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Shannon Speidel and Rev. Don Johnson. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Pat was born on March 14, 1937, the daughter of Otis and Gertrude Phillips. She passed away on November 17, 2016. She was raised and educated in Enid. In 1954 she was the governor of Oklahoma Girls State and attended Girls Nation. She graduated from Enid High School in 1955. Pat attended the University of Oklahoma where she was initiated into the the Epsilon Alpha chapter of the Chi Omega sorority. She then transferred to Oklahoma State University, continued her membership in Chi Omega through the Tau Beta chapter and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1959.Pat married Robert E. “Bob” Anderson on January 1, 1958, at Central Christian Church of Enid. Her career as an educator began in Dallas, Texas. She continued teaching when the couple returned to Enid in 1962. During her career in Enid she taught at Eisenhower, Monroe and Taft elementary schools. She was an active member in Central Christian Church. She served as president of Jr. Welfare League and originated the name for Stir Ups cookbook. Pat was also a 50-year member of the PEO organization and a member of a local bridge club for more than 20 years. She was proud of her Oklahoma heritage and enjoyed spending summers in Colorado.

She is survived by Bob, her husband of 58 years, daughter Dr. Kim Anderson, and husband, Dr. John Summar, of Conifer, Colo.; daughter Dr. Angi Carey, and husband, John, of Austin, Texas; and son Sen. Patrick Anderson and wife, Kelly, of Enid, Okla. She was most proud of her grandchildren: Stephanie, Andrew, Katlyn, Luke, Anna Grace, Lauren and Miles.
