Mary Mae Peppard Rowton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at age 83.
She was born in Canyon, Texas to Ella Murrell Sanders Peppard and Eugene Peppard. She was raised in Canyon and worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and M.E. Moses. After graduating from high school, she went on to attend West Texas State University. In 1951 Mary enrolled in Southwestern Assemblies of God Bible College. There she met and later married James Lee Rowton Sr. on March 26, 1954. Rev. and Mrs. Rowton pastored churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, & New Mexico. They have evangelized the last thirty-nine years. Mary enjoyed traveling to revival meetings as her health permitted. Mary loved the ministry and enjoyed playing the piano and was faithful to her calling as wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Reverend James L. Rowton. A son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lindy Rowton, of Edmond, OK, a daughter, Beth Ann Rowton, of Oklahoma City, a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Brian Smith, of McAlester, OK. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Mills, of Ft. Worth, Texas. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Brooke Ferris; Joshua Rowton and wife Leslie; Caleb Rowton; Lacy Hensley and husband Micah; Lindsey Eidson and husband Cody; Brian, Lauren and Brice Smith, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing will take place from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday evening, February 22nd at Bethesda Assembly of God Church in Oklahoma City. Her memorial service will be Tuesday morning February 23, 2016, 10:30 A.M. at Bethesda Assembly of God Church, 3101 SW 89 St, OKC. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, 500 SW 104th St., Oklahoma City.
