Mark was born on December 12th, 1961, in Enid, OK to David Ervin Rodenberg and Charlaine Mitzi (Miller) Rodenberg. Mark grew up on the family farm just south of Drummond. He began farming as a child, driving a tractor at the age of 6, and bringing in his first wheat harvest in 1973. He attended Drummond Public Schools K-12, was a member of the FFA, and enjoyed being in the school dramas and plays. He graduated from Drummond HS, class of 1980.

Mark graduated from Oklahoma State University, where he majored in Finance and Agriculture. At OSU, he met his wife Carole Jean Ballard. Mark and Carole were married on July 26th, 1986, in Stillwater, OK, and moved to the family farm. They had four children: Shannon in 1988, Shelby in 1990, Skyler in 1994, and Scott in 1996.

In addition to being a lifelong Farmer/Rancher, he was a true jack of all trades. Mark became a licensed commodity broker working for CT Futures in 1982. He served on numerous CO-OP boards, the Drummond Historical Society Board, The Del Norte Cemetery Board, and was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming, proudly dedicating 51 years to his craft. Mark continued the family farming legacy through his son, Scott, a 5th generation farmer, and his grandkids.

Mark and his father had their pilots’ licenses and loved flying their Piper Cherokee PA-28-140 that they kept in a hangar on the farm. He and Carole enjoyed visiting Good Life Resort in Mesa, AZ, in the winters, where he made homemade bread and ice cream to share with numerous friends and neighbors.

He loved playing with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Grandpa” or “Grandpa Pete”. He loved movies and listening to music while driving the wheat truck. He had a larger-than-life personality, loved playing pranks on his kids, and was a notorious jokester. He was known for his sense of humor, outlandish storytelling, infectious laugh, and spot on weather forecasts made under the pseudonym “Pete Turley” .
