Marjorie E. Hartling

The funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Marjorie Hartling, 95, of Enid will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday April 5, 2017 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Marjorie was born February 28, 1922 to Victor and Edna Phelps Livingston in Ellsworth, Kansas, and passed from this life on March 31, 2017 in Enid, Oklahoma.

As a child, she moved with her family to Enid and was raised and educated in the Enid Public School system, graduating from Enid High School in 1939. She attended nursing training at St. Mary’s Hospital and was the RN in charge of the Natal unit. While attending Nurses training, she soon met the love of her life, Harold Hartling, at a USO dance and married on June 29th 1945. She then returned to raising her family and volunteering in the Nurses Association. She was very active in the Democratic Women’s Association. She retired from the senior Bowling League at the age of 89. She was very active, always enjoyed dancing and has been known to join in with the grandkids on several occasions.

She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Harold Hartling, son Mike Hartling, sisters’ Elaine and Bernice and brother Dale.

She is survived by her sons Dick Hartling of Enid, Gary Hartling of Enid, and Jack Hartling of Enid, OK. 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Marjorie left a legacy unmatched by no other. She made everyone around feel the love and compassion she had for mankind. She touched everyone she was in contact with and will continue to touch lives for generations to come by her great example of Servant Leadership. We are all better humans for just knowing her. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the St Mary’s Hospital Volunteers with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
