Lester "Jim" Thomas Crawford Jr.

center-149x195-crawford-jimThe Celebration of Life for Lester ”Jim” Thomas Crawford, Jr, 84, of Enid will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Jim Edmison officiating. His daughter, Patricia “Pat” Schoenberg will deliver the Eulogy. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

The Crawford family lost their beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on September 20, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Jim was born July 24, 1932 at home in Ames, OK to Lester and Ernestine Crawford. He was raised and educated in Ames, OK. Jim was an all American in several sports and was a member of the FFA.

On February 25, 1950, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joan “Jody” Walton. Their love and constant companionship lasted until the moment of passing, over 66 years.

Jim worked at Kinney’s Shoe Stores as manager for several years, eventually working for Larry’s Amusement for 22 years, running his own vending business with Jody, and lastly, he worked for Happy Snacks Vending until ill health forced him to retire.

Some of Jim’s favorite pastimes include watching his Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners, Oklahoma Thunder and golfing. In earlier years he coached all three boys in baseball. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play their sports. He enjoyed playing cards, Wahoo, golfing and fishing.

He and son, Jerry, built a fish pond, stocked it with Japanese Coy and goldfish. He loved feeding and watching them grow and he loved to play with his two cats.

Survivors include his wife, Joan “Jody” of the home, sons, Tommy Crawford, Oklahoma City; Jerry Crawford and wife Carrie, Enid and daughter, Patricia Schoenberg, Chicago. Grandchildren: Karma and John Stovall; Korina Crawford, Michael and Janell Crawford and Bruce and May Schoenberg; three brothers, Bill, Bob and Ted Crawford; two sisters, Twila and Caroleen and sister-in-law, Jean Cokeley; great grandchildren, Brent Seymour, Jada Stovall, Garrett, Brandon, Troy and Carter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ernestine Crawford; brother, Dean; sisters, Hazel and Edith and his son, Patrick Crawford.
