Laura Jean Harp

Laura Jean Harp passed away on February 5, 2017. She went to be with her two lifelong lovers, her late husband Laddie Jack Harp, and her savior Jesus Christ. Jean was born to Jesse and Osa (Taylor) Jackson on March 1, 1927, in Fairview, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her three siblings, Phyliss Lee Essin, Mack Roger Jackson, and Jesse William Jackson, Jr.

One of Jean's favorite stories to tell is from when she was in 4th grade, and was sitting with her siblings discussing who they thought they would marry. She very insistently told them that God told her she would marry Laddie Harp. Years later in 1944, she was named the homecoming queen, and he was the captain of the football team. By 1948, they were engaged and married, making her 4th grade proclamation a reality. that marriage lasted 64 years until the passing of Laddie in 2012. In that time together, they were blessed with four children: Ted Harp, Jena (Mike) Hughes, Jessie (Jim) Whitlock and John (Laurie) Harp. They in turn blessed Laddie and Jean with 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Jean wanted it known that at the age of 45 she had a spiritual awaking and developed a grue, deep relationship with God. She has stated that, much like her mother Osa, she gets true happiness from knowing every family member if her direct lineage has accepted Jesus Christ as his or her personal savior. So ... though her body has passed, she is connected spiritually to all of her family for eternity.

Her children invite you to her Memorial Service at Fairview First Methodist Church, with Pastor Rich Redinger officiating. The service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, followed by a lunch reception for all attendees. There is also a guestbook available online at www.andersonburris.com.
