James (Jim) Lee Wichert, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on January 15, 2026 at home in Enid, Oklahoma. He was born on September 5, 1963 to Ray Lee and Helen Wichert and grew up on a farm west of Fairview. He developed his love of cooking from his mother, who made all the wild game they would bring home.

He was led to salvation at age 10 by Roy Brown through Boys Brigade, and was baptized February 15, 1977 in the Fairview MB Church.

He attended Fairview Elementary and Junior High, continued his education at Oklahoma Bible Academy, graduating in 1981. He went on to work for (Leonard) Wichert Electric, (Raymond) Wichert Plumbing, Dieterle Plumbing and ended his career at Vance AFB in Enid, where he made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community.

Throughout his life, Jim was actively involved in youth ministries, went to Africa to drill water wells, the AWANA program, and volunteered for various events throughout the year where he dedicated his time and resources to helping those in need.

He had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy, including hunting, fishing, beekeeping, restoring tractors, riding motorcycles, and gardening. He also loved to travel with his family, taking trips to North Dakota, California, South Dakota, Colorado, and many more.

He is survived by his loving wife, DeeAnn, whom he married in 1989, their two children, Erica (Richard) Mooers of Mustang, and Neil Wichert (fiancé Demi Suitor) of Enid, two granddaughters, Zoey (6) and Lexi (4) Mooers of Mustang, a brother Daryl (Gen) Wichert of Fairview and a sister, Annette Austin of Edmond, and many other extended family.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Helen (1991), father Ray Lee (1993), and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim loved to laugh, joke around, talk to and meet new people. No matter where he went, he always knew someone. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family, church, and the community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
