Memorial service for James Baker, age 69, of Enid, will be 9:00AM, Monday, August 1, 2016, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Perry Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
James was born April 15, 1947 in Sabetha, Kansas, to Kenneth Eugene and Mildred Agnes (James) Baker, and passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at his home in Enid.
James grew up in Whitecloud, Kansas and graduated from Highland High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the Army, James returned to Kansas and was in retail management for a lumber company. James moved to Houston where he was the general manager at the lumber company. He later moved to Enid, where he worked at Hughes Lumber, Dollar Tree and Lowes until he retired. James loved golfing, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his grandkids.
James is survived by his son Jason Baker and Jasmine Hudspeth and daughter Jillian Baker and Justin Easton all of Enid; his mother Mildred Baker of Hiwatha, Kansas; and 7 grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Baker, sister Barbara Runion and daughter-in-law Rachel Baker.
Memorials can be made out to OMRF-COPD division through the funeral home.
