Dorothy Juanita (Eck) LaMunyon

The funeral for Dorothy J. LaMunyon, 94, year-old Enid resident will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dan O’Daniel will officiate. A Committal service will precede the service at 10:00AM in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Meno.

On August 22, 1922, Dorothy Juanita (Eck) LaMunyon was born to Eben & Elizabeth (Schmidt) Eck on a farm northeast of Ringwood. She went to be with her Lord Wedneday, March 8, 2017. She attended all twelve years at Ringwood Public Schools.

For a short time during World War II, Dorothy worked in an office at the Naval Shipyard in Virginia. She lived with her sister-in-law while her brother Art served with the U.S. Coast Guard in Virginia. She returned to Oklahoma and worked in Enid at various jobs until the end of World War II. She became engaged to Tom LaMunyon and later married him on November 30, 1946 in the Central Christian Church in Enid. They started their family in Rinwood and lived there until they moved to Fairview in 1957. They were married for 67 years until his death on March 18, 2013.

She was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was an unassuming lady who would quietly do anything for others in need. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends.

Dorothy leaves one daughter Marla Jane (Ron) Reames, Fairview, and one son Dana Paul (Sherry Jines) LaMunyon, Enid. There are four grandchildren: Cari (Mark) Moose of Greenwood, AR; Courtney (Brent) Martens Edmond, OK; JPaul (Hope) LaMunyon of San Marcos, TX; and Amanda LaMunyon of Enid ; and six great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Owens, Preston and Paxton Martens, and Ali and Ty Moose.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Circle of Love Hospice.
