Donald Wayne Bailey

center-149x195-bailey-donA Celebration of Life for Donald Wayne Bailey, 86, of Enid will be Monday November 14, 2016, 2:00 PM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Cremation was under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Don was born May 7, 1930 in Salina, Kansas, the son of Joe and Jessie Harman Bailey and passed away November 2, 2016.

Don graduated from Enid High School in May, 1948 and then attended Enid Business College, earning a degree in accounting. He worked briefly for Gold Spot Dairy before enlisting in the Air Force where he furthered his education in accounting and finance.

Upon discharge form the Air Force, Don returned to Enid and was employed by BIC Loan Company as a manager renovating various offices in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and New Mexico. He left BIC to establish his home back in Enid becoming employed at Local Loan with John Barth.

Don was united in marriage to Jackie Ladusau on March 17, 1962. In 1974, he and Jackie moved to Durango, Colorado, realizing a dream of living in the mountains they had come to love over years of vacationing there. They first resided in in a stream side home on the Vallecito River in Vallecito, Colorado. Don served as manager of Southern Ute Resort Hotel in Ignacio before establishing his own business, Dons Accounting in Durango. In 1995, they moved to The Ranch north of Durango, where he enjoyed golfing, bowling, elk hunting and jeeping. Don was the CEO of the Vallecito Chamber of Commerce for many years and was a life time member of the Elks. In 2005,Don and Jackie returned to Enid.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jackie, a step-daughter, Michele Nightengale and her husband Leonard, a grandson, Michael Dean Myers and his wife Jan and a great-granddaughter, Breanna Myers, a sister, Margie Horrigan and her husband Roger, a brother, Bob Bailey and his wife Bobbie, nephews, John Bailey and his wife Dian and Kevin Horrigan, nieces, Tamara Curnow and Sharon (Bailey) Ensminger and her husband Tim. Don was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeff Myers.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital for their loving and gracious care of Don.
