Colleen was born on June 13, 1937, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, to Nellie and Marion Anson and passed away on September 13, 2025, in Enid. She grew up in a close-knit family with five siblings—brothers Don Chambers and Ben Anson, and sisters Donna, Myrtle, and Nora Mae—where laughter, hard work, and love for others formed the foundation of life.
On September 16, 1954, Colleen married Donald Wayne Walker, and together they were blessed with four children: Pamela Sue, Michael Wayne, Brent Lee, and Penny Sue. In 1963, she later married Virgil William Day, and they made their home in Kremlin, Oklahoma.
Colleen devoted her career to school food service, where her smile, kindness, and care touched the lives of countless children. She retired in 1991 from the Kremlin Hillsdale School System, leaving behind work she dearly loved. Her faith was central to her life, and her church family became an extension of her own. Colleen’s love, service, and devotion will remain her enduring legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Marion Anson; her brother, Don Chambers; her sister, Myrtle Dimick; her husband, Virgil Day; her beloved grandson, Brandon Gammon; and her great-granddaughter, Kacyn Brooksher.
Colleen is survived by her brother, Ben Anson and wife Beverly; her sisters, Donna Shuey and Nora Mae Christiansen, all of Washington State; her children, Pamela Tomberlin and husband Mike of Florence, Alabama, Michael Day and wife Denita of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Brent Walker and wife Jennifer of Florida, and Penny Lewis and husband Terry of Claremore, Oklahoma. She is also remembered with love by her grandchildren—Jennifer Tomberlin, Jillian Bingham, Jordann Whittington, Joseph and Jonathan Tomberlin, Myriah Day, Aubrey Alcorn, Stephen and Sean Rich, Cory Benson, Darrin Combs, Justin Gammon, Jared Lewis, Brett Brooksher, Holly Lewis, Colten Brooksher, and Rose Lewis—along with numerous great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
On behalf of the family, we extend heartfelt appreciation to Baptist Village and Enid First Assembly for the love, care, and support they provided, embracing Colleen as their own “Mom.”
