Funeral services for Clayton Dale Crosswhite, age 89, of Meno, will be 10:00 am, Monday, September 29, 2025, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with Reverend Tim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday, September 28th at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Clayton was born July 29, 1936, in Enid, Oklahoma to Clyde and Hazel (Jones) Crosswhite, and he passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Enid.
He attended Garber High School where he graduated in 1954. Following high school, he worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department. In 1959, he was drafted into the United States Army as an ambulance driver and he was also a Sharpshooter. He went into the reserves following his service to the Army, where he served another four years. He married Betty Cottom on May 16, 1964, in Enid. Together, they had three boys, Doyle, Alvin and Dustin. He worked for Speed Star and Chicago Pneumatic, and obtained his certification in welding, as well as working on the family farm near Meno. He enjoyed traveling and camping with Betty and the boys. Their travels included Colorado, Montana, Yellowstone, Oregon, and California, venturing into Old Mexico, Arizona, and many other places. Clayton and Betty were very involved in the Blue Star Mothers, sending boxes of necessities to soldiers in harm's way, they also held a lot of fund raisers, and took gift bags to Veteran's in care facilities in Enid.
Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hazel Crosswhite. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty, of the home in Meno; three children, Doyle Crosswhite and wife Heidi, of Fayetteville, AR, Alvin Crosswhite and wife Roni, of Enid, and Dustin Crosswhite and wife Cam, of Enid; seven grandchildren, Jeff Crosswhite and wife Claire, of Tulsa, Carson and Cole Dearing, of Farmington, AR, Aedan Crosswhite, of Enid, Ally Crosswhite, of Enid, Sierra Nyberg and husband John, of Newberry, FL, Blayne Crosswhite, of Purcell, OK, and great-grandson Wyatt Nyberg of Newberry, FL. Three siblings also survive Clayton: Verda Crosswhite, Elizabeth Lowstetter and Billy Crosswhite, as well as other extended family.
Memorial contributions in Clayton's name may be made to the Blue Star Mother's Oklahoma Chapter 11, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
