ENID, OK - The Cherokee Strip Community Foundation (CSCF) has awarded $100,000 in special grants to five local nonprofit groups working on some of the biggest challenges facing Northwest Oklahoma.
These one-time Catalyst Grants are part of a new effort by CSCF to support long-term solutions in key areas: housing, childcare, mental health, workforce development, and recruiting doctors to rural communities.
“We wanted to support strong partners who are already doing great work,” said Carrie Sanders, Executive Director of CSCF. “These grants help them go even further in helping people in our communities live better lives.”
The grants were not part of CSCF’s usual annual grant cycle. Instead, they came from a special fund that gives the Foundation more flexibility. A team of community leaders from across the region reviewed applications and selected one top project in each priority area.
“Our grantees are trusted leaders,” said Hallie Caldwell, Chair of the CSCF Grants Committee. “They have a strong record of making a difference, and we are proud to support them.”
2025 Catalyst Grant Recipients:
• CDSA – Affordable Housing: $25,000 to help turn the old Monroe Apartments into 14 affordable homes for low-income families.
• CDSA – Childcare: $25,000 to launch a new Early Childhood Center with wrap-around services for local parents.
• Great Salt Plains Health Center – Physician Recruitment: $25,000 to grow a new Family Medicine Residency Program that brings more doctors to rural areas.
• Making a Difference, Inc. – Mental Health: $7,500 to offer free counseling for young adults and college students who don’t have health insurance.
• Autry Technology Center Educational Foundation – Workforce Development: $17,500 to expand a program that teaches middle school students career and STEM skills.
While CSCF can’t promise future Catalyst Grants, this effort shows the Foundation’s strong commitment to helping the region grow and solve tough problems together.
“We believe in building community, not just funding projects,” said Jessica Caruthers, CSCF Board Chair. “These grants are one way we can help create real, lasting change.”
