ENID, OK - Early morning smoke filled the air on Tuesday as residents wondered what was burning. A home in the 1400 block of W. Garriott was engulfed in flames when the Enid Fire Department arrived.
-
Firefighters had to block most of W. Garriott to fight the fire and traffic had to be rerouted throughout the morning. The home is located just east of Boggy Creek across the field from McAlister's Deli.
-
Occupants of the home escaped safely and reported on social media that they were unhurt. When asked, they stated they did not know what had started the fire. They did confirm that the American Red Cross had reached out to them for support. Shirley Haws White Radcliffe commented, "It is our fire. Everyone got out..Bad bad fire."
-
Family members also posted that they did not know where their animals were. Although they believe most of the animals perished in the fire they are asking neighbors to be on the lookout for any stray cats that might have escaped. One cat was discovered after the fire.
