ENID, OK - Garfield County residents will be asked to approve a one-tenth of a percent sales tax increase to be spent on maintenance, operations and marketing of the Chisholm Trail Expo Center and other fairground facilities.
The Garfield County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution calling for the sales tax election for October 14, 2025. The sales tax would last for 10 years, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2035.
The Expo Center is currently being funded by the county’s share of a 3% hotel/motel tax. According to Expo officials that 3% barely makes payroll and pays the bills.
If approved, the new sales tax would add about $75,000 a month in revenue. The local sales tax in Enid would increase to 9.2%.
