Jerry R. Shipley

The memorial service for Jerry R. Shipley, 84- year-old Enid resident will be 2:00PM Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Andrew P. Long and Rev. Lynnette Solomon will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Jerry was born July 30, 1932 in Douglas, Oklahoma to Thurman F. (Mac) and Charlotte (Lottie) ( Eisberg) Shipley and died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Integris Bass Baptist Health Center surrounded by his family.

He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1950. He then attended Oklahoma State University earning a degree in Business. On August 6, 1955 he married Sally Moler in Tulsa. Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Greenland. After his service was complete the couple moved to Enid. Jerry co-owned Century 21 Homes Plus and was a home builder. He was named Realtor of the year in 1999.

Jerry was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and was very involved in the tutoring program. Jerry was a proud American, avid hunter and fisherman, but family came first.

He is survived by his wife Sally, son Brett Shipley(Laurie), daughters Elizabeth Morales(Henry) and Amy Purk(Michael). Grandchildren, Ayla, Jerod, Elysa, Hank, Julia, Brandon, and Nick. His sister, Ann Mosher(T.J) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Guida and brother Winston.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the SPCA, The Tutoring Program at First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
