Rex went to sleep and woke up in heaven. When someone would ask him how he was doing, his reply was “I’m too blessed to be stressed, and to annointed to be disappointed.” He told that to hundreds of people. He was known for his clean jokes and loved to make people laugh.

Rex Hurley was born at home four miles north of Nash, the 7th child of 9, to Thomas “Tom” and Lois (West) Hurley.

Rex served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a Corpsman, spending 2 ½ years at the base hospital in Yokosuka, Japan.

Rex and Mary Lavonne Webb were married January 15, 1965 and spent 49 wonderful years together before she entered heaven on June 30, 2013. Rex was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church, where he was very active serving as Sunday School teacher, worship service song leader, Royal Ranger Senior Commander, sound man, and part-time van driver. He was a perpetual member and past member of Garfield Masonic Lodge since 1987. He was a perpetual member of Pond Creek Masonic Lodge and Guthrie Scottish Rite. Rex was a life member of VFW and Akdar Shrine.

He is survived by his sister Nancy Nichols and her husband Ed of Enid; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife, five brothers, Keith, Kenneth, Duane “Don”, David, and Joel “Buz”; and two sisters, Rheba and June.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Evangel Assembly of God Church.
