Letter carriers across Oklahoma will once again help fight hunger during the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 9.

Now in its 34th year, the effort encourages residents to leave nonperishable food donations by their mailboxes before their mail carrier arrives. Donations collected along postal routes in central and western Oklahoma will benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and its partner agencies, helping stock shelves for local families in need.

Residents should watch for a plastic donation bag in their mailbox during the week leading up to the drive. Food can be placed in that bag or in any plastic bag and left by the mailbox for pickup on May 9.

Since the food drive began in 1992, more than 14.2 million pounds of food have been collected. Organizers say last year’s drive helped provide more than 750,000 meals. All donations stay local to support communities across the region.

“Hunger affects every community, and addressing it takes community action,” said Kelli Hayward Walsh, manager of OG&E Community Outreach & Engagement. “Stamp Out Hunger is neighbors helping neighbors, and OG&E stands alongside the Regional Food Bank in this impactful effort to help our neighbors.”

Regional Food Bank CEO Stacy Dykstra said the drive continues to make a direct difference for Oklahomans facing hunger.

“The beauty of Stamp Out Hunger is how it unites our communities through a simple act of giving,” Dykstra said. “Donations collected through this drive directly support our neighbors experiencing hunger.”

Organizers welcome all nonperishable food items. Some of the most-needed items include:

peanut butter
canned tuna or chicken
canned fruits
pasta and canned sauce
soup and stew

Healthier items such as whole grain and low-sodium foods are also encouraged.

Those who would rather give financially can text “StampOK” to 53-555. Organizers say every $1 donated helps provide three meals to Oklahomans facing hunger.

The food drive is presented by OG&E and American Fidelity, with additional support from CSAA-AAA Insurance, OU Health, WEOKIE Foundation, Bank of Oklahoma, and The Oklahoman.

More information is available through the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Watch Planes Fly In for Breakfast at Enid Woodring Regional Airport This Saturday

There’s something a little different happening at Enid Woodring Regional Airport this Saturday morning, and it’s one of those events that’s fun whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just looking for something unique to do around town.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, pilots from surrounding airports will be flying into Enid for the airport’s monthly Fly-In Breakfast. The public is invited to come out, enjoy breakfast, watch the planes arrive and depart, and spend a little time exploring one of Enid’s most interesting local spots.

The event takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Enid Woodring Regional Airport. Guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for $10.99, while kids 12 and under eat for $5.99.

One of the best parts of the morning is simply watching the action on the airfield. Visitors can see aircraft flying in from surrounding communities, landing on the runway, taxiing in, and later taking off again. From time to time, there are also spot landing contests, which add a little extra excitement for those who enjoy seeing pilots show off their precision flying skills.

Even if you’re not a pilot or an airplane buff, the Fly-In Breakfast offers a fun family-friendly outing. It’s a chance to get up close to aircraft, see static displays on the ramp, and experience the atmosphere of a working regional airport. Kids especially tend to love watching the planes come and go, and it makes for a different kind of Saturday morning activity.

While you’re there, you can also stop in and check out the airport terminal and the Barnstormers restaurant, which have become part of the experience for many who attend. The event combines small-town hospitality, good food, and aviation in a way that’s hard to find just anywhere.

The Fly-In Breakfast is typically held on the third Saturday of most months from March through October, although dates are subject to change. Throughout the season, Enid Woodring Regional Airport welcomes pilots flying in for breakfast and fellowship, while giving the public a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds of general aviation up close.

For anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary this weekend, this is a great excuse to head out to the airport, grab some breakfast, and watch the sky come alive.

Woodring Airport History

Enid Woodring Regional Airport (WDG) is located just 4 miles SE of Enid, OK. It is a full service FBO with all the amenities. The airport now houses Barnstormers restaurant and several rooms of aerospace and military memorabilia.

Enid’s Airport was renamed Enid Woodring Municipal Airport on May 30, 1933 after Lieutenant Irvin A. (Bert) Woodring, born February 1, 1902 in Enid, Oklahoma. Irvin A. Woodring was one of the U.S. Army Air Corps’ “Three Musketeers of Aviation” along with fellow pilots John J. Williams and William Lewers Cornelius. The group performed aerobatics at the National Air Races. J.J. Williams died in practice at Mines Field, Los Angeles on September 11, 1928.

Charles Lindbergh, for whom the three had served as escorts, filled in following Williams death. Two weeks later, W. L. Cornelius died when his plane collided with another plane. On January 20, 1933, Bert Woodring fell 2,000 feet to his death over Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, when his Consolidated P-30 fighter exploded in mid-air.

Within the airport grounds is the former traveling VietNam Memorial Wall, Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, which honors Oklahoma veterans. Ceremonies are held annually on Memorial Day to honor fallen soldiers. A two-story veterans museum at the site is in the works.
The post Woodring Fly-In & Breakfast April 18 first appeared on Enid Buzz.

ENID, OK — The inaugural Culture Connection Summit 2025 will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Stride Bank Grand Ballroom in Enid, Oklahoma, bringing together community members, civic leaders, and cultural advocates for a full day of meaningful dialogue, cultural exchange, and actionable collaboration.

“We hope that this summit will bring together the White, Black, Hispanic, Native American, and Micronesian communities living in Enid. We aim to acknowledge and celebrate the rich diversity each of these cultural groups contributes to our community. We want to encourage participation, understanding, and collaboration. By working together, we can make Enid an even better place to live,” states Patrick Anderson, Summit Committee Collaborator.

The event kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with registration, morning coffee, and a continental breakfast, followed by opening remarks from Master of Ceremonies, Ward 3 City Commissioner Frank Baker, who will set the stage for the day’s goal: fostering dialogue, understanding, and collaboration across cultures in our increasingly diverse community.

Event Highlights Include:

• Keynote by J.C. Watts (9:10 a.m.) – American politician, clergyman, and former OU and professional football player.

• Cultural Spotlights (10:00 a.m.) – A vibrant showcase led by Donnie Childs, Raquel Gramillo, Chuck Kearney, and Terry Mote, featuring music, dance, and traditions from diverse backgrounds represented in the local community.

• Lunch Keynote by Mayor Amanda Sandoval of Bethany (NOON) – Sharing insights on leadership through inclusion and the role of municipalities in creating culturally vibrant communities.

• Interactive Breakout Sessions (1:00 p.m.) – Attendees will engage in small group discussions to tackle relevant community and cultural topics determined by a pre-event survey, followed by collaborative reporting and audience Q&A.

• Community Planning & Action Forum (2:30 p.m.) – Participants will vote on key initiatives, prioritize action items, and develop strategies to move multicultural efforts forward in Enid and beyond.

The summit will conclude with closing remarks at 3:15 p.m., highlighting future engagement opportunities and next steps, and then transitioning to a networking mixer at 3:30 p.m., encouraging informal connections with potential surprise guest appearances.

Why It Matters:
“Our community is rich with cultures, stories, and experiences,” said Summit Committee Collaborator Raquel Gramillo. “The Culture Connection Summit is about bringing those together in one space—to learn, share, and build something stronger together.”

Registration Details:
Admission is free and open to the public. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

All fruit is grown in Palisade, CO. Peach trees are grown right on the banks of the Colorado River as it winds its way though their little town. This river is a vital source of water begins in North Central Colorado near Grand Lake, and flows westward through the beautiful Rocky Mountains gathering up snow melt as it moves toward the Baja Peninsula.

Since 1972, the Cunningham family has worked to provide your family with tree-ripened peaches and pears that have been fed by the snow melt of these mountains. Cunningham Peaches are special because they have a goal of delivering these hand-picked peaches into your car within 48-72 hours. But it’s also common for your box of peaches to be picked from the tree, and loaded into your car within 24 hours!

Instead of using packing machinery, the Cunningham's let their fruit hang as long as possible to get every drop of sugar before hand-picking and packing the fruit right there in the orchard.

There is simply no better peach than a Cunningham Peach!

ENID, OK - Social media sure brings up a lot of old arguments. You'd think with so many people chiming in there would finally be a resolution to may of today's top debates.

One of the more recent debates is whether you are eating stuffing or dressing on Thanksgiving. Many so called kitchen experts have their own opinions. Some will swear it's one or the other.

What I have discovered after an exhaustive investigation is that it really comes down to the old soda versus pop debate.

Some Quick Facts
Stuffing is sometimes defined as a seasoned mix used to fill the body of a fowl before it is cooked. The Oxford English Dictionary's definition of dressing is not as specific and merely calls it "the seasoning substance used in cooking". Because of these definitions some expect that stuffing is always stuffed inside a bird but that is not the case. Many people in the north no longer "stuff" their ingredients but they continue to call it stuffing.

The Similarities
Family recipes for turkey stuffing and dressing are very much interchangeable, especially in the north and northeast regions of the country. The base of the recipe is usually a crumbled bread product such as cornbread, biscuits and/or bread slices. Some believe one bread product is exclusive to one or the other but that is not the case. Most call for chopped onion and/or celery. Another key ingredient in almost every recipe is poultry seasoning.

The Differences
The main difference, some point out, is that stuffing is "stuffed" into the turkey before it is baked, while dressing is put into a greased pan and baked. The famous cookbook "The Joy of Cooking" says that a mixture is considered stuffing if you cook it inside the bird, and dressing if you cook it in a pan. However, The National Turkey Federation states that the terms are interchangeable.

Other differences are in the ingredients choices which vary according to regional locations. Generally southern states in America call a mixture "dressing" while northern states usually call it "stuffing." By far, more of the country calls the side dish, "stuffing". The theory is that southern states find the word "stuffing" not genteel enough for their liking so they began using the word, "dressing".

So Which Is It?
It really comes down to personal preference because the recipes are many times the same. If you like the combination of a crispy outside with a moist middle you may call it dressing. If you prefer the squishy, wet texture, then you will most likely call it stuffing. The debate actually depends more on where you grew up and what you grew up eating rather than an actual difference between the two. There are more searches online for stuffing recipes and the majority of those are from northern states.

Conclusion
I'm more than certain that this will not settle the debate. Those that think dressing is something completely different than stuffing will continue to call it dressing. And those that grew up eating stuffing, whether stuffed in a bird or not, will continue to call it stuffing. Guess I'll go have a soda from the ice box.

ENID, Okla. - As far as restaurants and recipes go in Enid, Oklahoma, there's none more famous than 3 Towers Restaurant and their epic salad dressing. Just the mention of the business brings a flood of comments about a favorite food, a great memory and that ever popular salad dressing.

Many have tried to copy the recipe and many have failed. Some Enidites claim that the famed dressing is now being served at a few restaurants in town. We cannot confirm nor deny these claims.

The restaurant began in 1947 and served for decades. The original recipe may have been lost or modified over the years but there seems to be a few common ingredients in most of the claimed secret recipes that have been smuggled out over the years.

We do not claim to know the exact original 3 Towers Salad Dressing Recipe but the list below should get you very close to the same flavor that many claim to be the best in the world.

Here are a few of the recipes we've run across from different sources:

3 c. buttermilk
1 c. Wesson oil
2 ½ T. mustard
½ t. garlic powder
1 ½ t. salt
3 T. salad dressing (mayo not Miracle Whip - heaping)
3 green onions, chopped
1 avocado
Place all in blender and blend well. Add avocado seed to dressing to prevent darkening.
-

1 egg, beat until frothy
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons mustard
1 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup salad oil
1 cup buttermilk
Mix the above ingredients in a blender.
-

3 cups buttermilk
1 cup Wesson oil
2 teaspoons prepared yellow mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 cup mayonnaise (or enough to thicken)
Mix until oil dissolves. Refrigerate.
-

1 egg, beaten two minutes
Add 1 1/3 cups oil
2 tablespoons mustard
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Sprinkle salad with paprika after adding the dressing to the lettuce, etc.
-

3 eggs, beat until thick and frothy
Add 2 cups Wesson oil but only mix in 1/4 cup at a time
16 ounces sour cream
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons mustard
1 tablespoon brown mustard
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Mix together and beat.
-

3 cups buttermilk
1 cup oil
2 tablespoons salad dressing (mayo not Miracle Whip - heaping)
2 tablespoons mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons garlic powder
Mix all in blender of mixer. Add paprika if you like.
-

1 quart salad dressing (mayo not Miracle Whip - heaping)
1/5 quart buttermilk
1/5 quart salad oil
1/5 cup mustard
1/2 pod garlic
Pinch of salt
Beat all together until smooth.
-

1 cup salad oil
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
1 raw egg
Mix all ingredients except egg and blend five minutes. Add egg and continue to beat until smooth. Chill before serving.
-

Many of these are pretty close to each other so we must assume that the ingredients of the original salad dressing recipe are most likely in this list. Try these and try your own versions. Hopefully you'll come close to something that brings back those great tastes of yesteryear.
