United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma will host its 2026 Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 23rd, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, in the Grand Ballroom of the Stride Bank Center. The meeting will feature lunch, special presentations, the 2025-2026 campaign totals, and special announcements about the 2026-2027 Campaign Chair, the 100th Red Feather theme, and plans for the year. The cost of attending is $40 per person or $400 for a table for 8.

The Slater Family served as 2025-2026 chairs for the campaign. Highlights of the United Way’s Campaign came in the form of several pledges, contributions, and donated gifts of stock.

“The Golf Tournament, Pillar’s Dinner, and Chili Cook-off events were once again huge successes, raising funds to help support our 14 partner agencies. Thank you to everyone who donated their time, energy, or money in any way, large or small, or gave words of encouragement. We are truly blessed to have been a part of this campaign and the United Way organization,” Shanda Slater stated.

Funds raised through the United Way of Enid & Northwest Oklahoma’s campaign go to support 14 nonprofit member agencies: Booker T. Washington Community Center, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, SCOUTING AMERICA Last Frontier Council, Community Development Support Association, Denny Price YMCA, Human Services Alliance of Greater Enid, Garfield County Child Advocacy Council, 4RKIDS, Loaves and Fishes, RSVP of Enid and North Central Oklahoma, Thayne A. Hedges Regional Speech & Hearing Center, The Salvation Army, Youth & Family Services North Central Oklahoma and YWCA of Enid. Funds also support research to identify human service needs throughout Enid & NW Oklahoma communities and help accountable health and human services agencies to meet those needs by improving the health, safety, education, and economic well-being of our most vulnerable citizens.

Wanna play a game? Clue is a show that doesn’t ask deep, profound questions of its audience. Instead, it simply asks, whodunit? Who killed Mr. Boddy? Was it Professor Plum in the conservatory with the candlestick? Or was it Miss Scarlet in the library with the lead pipe? Yes, it’s a play based on the classic board game Clue – but more directly, it’s based on the 1985 movie version of Clue that has developed a cult following. Now, that familiar title and those literally colorful characters return in Gaslight’s annual dinner theatre fundraiser, opening February 11th at the Stride Bank Center.

Charlet Ringwald directs a who’s who of Gaslight stars, including Jason Maly as Wadsworth, the butler; Bailey Wilson as the maid, Yvette; Chad Swanson as Colonel Mustard, Katie Pierce as Mrs. White, Christianne Chase as Mrs. Peacock, Alex Johnson as Mr. Green, Jason Ogg as Professor Plum and Angela Gallagher as Miss Scarlet. The six "player" characters are summoned to Boddy Manor by a mysterious blackmailer, played by Brice Donaldson, where each is given a weapon—you know, the dagger, the wrench, the rope, the lead pipe, the revolver and the candlestick---the lights go out and mayhem ensues!

The cast also includes Blake Recknagel, Venson Fields, Jonathan Wilson, Emily Nelson, Erika Christner, and Courtney Strzinek, along with assistant director Tiffany Harvey and stage manager Dylan Moser on the production team. This year's dinner theatre is sponsored by the generous support of Park Avenue Thrift.

There are only four performances of Clue!—Feb. 11, 12 and 18, 19. Dinner is served at 7pm with the show at 8pm. A cash bar will be available. There will also be several silent auction items that can be bid on throughout both weekends and a special raffle item each evening. Get your tickets before they’re gone!

Candy store owner, Melissa Thomas, has always enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. Her grandmother and mother were both amazing cooks who taught her to bake, boil and fry, but they didn’t make much in the way of candy, so Thomas learned on her own.

As the mother of four, it seemed as if the kitchen was where the family spent most of their time together. Her children would sit on the floor doing their homework while she made dinner. To this day they all enjoy cooking to some degree and often help their mom out in the shop preparing orders.

Apron Strings Candy started with a simple toffee recipe. Thomas used a lot of trials and mostly errors to create her first recipe. Once she had it perfected she gave most of it away and people fell in love with the taste. Her first successful candy and sale was for traditional English Toffee and it has remained one of the best sellers.

Thomas and her husband converted a former ceramic shop into a commercial kitchen and became licensed with the state, city, and local health departments. They officially opened for business in December 2019 and added a small retail shop in January 2020.

Apron Strings Candy is sold at local craft fairs, home shows, and various events. The retail shop is located at 3810 E. Market in Enid, Oklahoma. Hours are Monday thru Thursday 4pm to 6pm and Friday thru Sunday 10am to 6pm.

The candy making couple creates everything themselves in small batches. They have a licensed commercial kitchen and are part of the Made in Oklahoma coalition. They both currently have regular jobs on top of the candy business which limits the hours that they can be open.

Old fashioned English Toffee and Nutty Peanut Brittle are without a doubt the fan favorites, followed closely by the diabetic and Keto friendly Dark Chocolate Cranberry Pecan Bark. The store will have unique specials for all the upcoming holidays.

The 4RKids Foundation, Inc. was founded in Enid, OK, in 2003.  A small group of parents and educators of children and adults with special needs recognized the need for more services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities in Garfield and surrounding counties of northwest Oklahoma. The mission of 4RKids is to promote community awareness of individuals with special needs, and to provide vocational, educational, and social/recreational opportunities for children and adults with special needs.

The Braum Family Farm is located in Tuttle, Oklahoma and has a Processing Plant, Bakery, Private Dairy Herd, and Milking Operation. They milk 800 cows every 32 minutes.

Braum’s makes over 100 flavors of ice cream using milk, fresh from Braum’s private dairy herd. It’s combined with fresh cream and sweetener. Then, the “inclusions” are added in, like chocolate chips, cookies, caramel and nuts.

Their ice cream expertise spans three generations with over seven decades of history behind it. Corks has been Northwest Oklahoma's largest, wine, spirits and craft beer depot! The store's selection was filled with liquor, wine and beer but they specialized in fine wines and spirits.

Their wine selection includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Corks has been the major sponsor of the annual Land Run Beer Fest. They would bring in products from 25 breweries and had 100-plus beers to sample.

All inventory is currently discounted to 40% off. They are recommending that you hurry in for your favorite beverages while supplies last. All store fixtures are also being sold.

The liquor store is located on the east side of Willow Plaza at 2323 W. Willow.

Limited space due to social distancing and reduced hours have put a clamp on clubs and bars. Many clubs relied on large crowds after 11:00pm but Oklahoma currently has an 11:00pm closing time for restaurants, clubs and bars.

Clubs have had to get creative to supplement the income they are losing with no late night crowds. One local night spot doing just that is Boondocks Tavern located on the edge of downtown Enid.

Partners, Dana Noteware and Jennifer Timberlake Taylor, are adding a new aspect to Boondocks with the premiere of their first food menu. They rolled out fresh food on Wednesday, December 16. They have also ended smoking inside and are working on an outdoor patio for those that prefer to smoke.

The partners purchased a food truck trailer and have it cranking out food in front of the tavern. You can order from within the tavern or drive up and take it to-go.

The menu is set for their soft opening but will include more items as they perfect their system. Appetizers include Loaded Nachos, Loaded Waffle Fries, Hennessy Chicken and Waffles and more. Featured entrees are Fish & Chips, Pork Adobo Banh Mi, Boondocks Burger, Cuban Sandwich and Chicken Wings and a Philly Cheese Steak.

Sides round out the menu with french fries, waffle fires, sweet potato fries, red beans & rice, collard greens and bar chips. You can also order and good ole soda.

Tax is included in price of the food item. Desserts are coming after the soft opening.

Food will be served at the same time the bar is open which is Wednesday thru Saturday from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. Food to-go from the outside trailer ends at midnight even though the club closes at 11:00pm.

The Youngblood Cafe once occupied the space on the first floor of what is now known as the Independence Tower. The Youngblood Hotel was a main gathering place for local residents and those travelers visiting Enid, Oklahoma.

The first thing that will strike you when you enter The Youngblood Grille is how inviting the restaurant is. The bright yellow chairs have a retro look but an ultra modern feel. The view out onto Maple is spectacular and seeing the architecture across the street will give you a feeling of what it must have been like back in the day.

The eatery is now open for breakfast and lunch. Grab breakfast Tuesday thru Friday from 8:00am to 10:00am and 11:00am to 1:30pm. Lunch is served Tuesday thru Saturday from 11:00am to 1:30pm. Breakfast is served 8:00am to 1:30pm on Saturday.

Owners Mickey and Mandy De La Cruz have created a fantastic menu including classics like Fish & Chips, Pot Roast, Cincinnati Chili and more. Appetizers include Dynamite Shrimp, Gravy Fries, and Fried Clams.

Featured sandwiches are the Meatloaf, Monte Cristo, Meatball Sub and Salmon Burger. Sides included the world famous pepper supreme fries, mashed potatoes, roasted cauliflower, sweet potato fries, fired okra and more.

The breakfast menu features Youngblood Chicken and Waffles, Country Biscuits and Gravy, Chilaquiles and Omlets. You can also enjoy the classics like ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, bagels, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, pancakes and muffins.

A very popular section of the restaurant features a healthy salad bar loaded with fresh items daily. Dine in or carry out by the container. Carry out salad bar charged per oz. so fill it up! Employees working in the tower can call and have lunch delivered to their office.

Owners of Independence Tower asked Mickey and Mandy, who also own Pane Vino, to operate the establishment. They were also selected as the premiere caterers for the Independence Tower Ballroom and Oak Room. The two spaces are open for public use and Mandy can cater weddings, parties and other social events.

One entire block of E. Broadway will be blocked off for over 50 outside vendors, entertainment and food trucks. Inside Broadway Antiques & Uniques you'll find another 60+ vendors and booths filled with everything you can imagine.

This will be a true Craft Show highlighting hand crafted merchandise from dozens of local creators and even a few from as far away as New Mexico! No multi-level marketing booths.

Broadway Antiques has been very busy since re-opening after COVID-19 lock down and wanted to share their traffic with other businesses. Store owner, Cindy Greven, is hosting the event to assist crafters due to cancelled craft shows and provide shoppers a one-stop shopping venue for the holidays.

Greven invited local retailers to set up shop for their businesses. Many of the vendors at this show manufacture and wholesale their items.

Local delivery of large and heavy items will be available by experienced individuals. Ask the vendor you are purchasing items from for contact information. Delivery charges start at $45.

We’ve made great progress against the disease since then. Today, polio cases have been reduced by 99.9 percent, and just two countries continue to report cases of wild poliovirus: Afghanistan and Pakistan. And we remain committed to the end.

With polio nearly eradicated, Rotary and its partners must sustain this progress and continue to reach every child with the polio vaccine. Without full funding and political commitment, this paralyzing disease could return to polio-free countries, putting children everywhere at risk. Rotary has committed to raising US$50 million each year to support global polio eradication efforts. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to match that 2-to-1, for a combined yearly contribution of $150 million.
