The 10 Under 40 Awards ceremony is set for Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Stride Bank Center, where the top 10 recipients will be honored. These awards recognize well-rounded individuals who contribute meaningfully to Enid’s growth, culture, and progress. Nominations will be accepted through the online form, that will be posted on EYP’s Facebook page and on the awards website at www.growenid.com/eyp-10under40. The nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges comprised of leaders from outside the EYP organization.

Along with the 10 Under 40 Awards, EYP will be bringing back the “Social Shaker” awards at the event. Watch Planes Fly In for Breakfast at Enid Woodring Regional Airport This Saturday

There’s something a little different happening at Enid Woodring Regional Airport this Saturday morning, and it’s one of those events that’s fun whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just looking for something unique to do around town.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, pilots from surrounding airports will be flying into Enid for the airport’s monthly Fly-In Breakfast. The public is invited to come out, enjoy breakfast, watch the planes arrive and depart, and spend a little time exploring one of Enid’s most interesting local spots.

The event takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Enid Woodring Regional Airport. Guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for $10.99, while kids 12 and under eat for $5.99.

One of the best parts of the morning is simply watching the action on the airfield. Visitors can see aircraft flying in from surrounding communities, landing on the runway, taxiing in, and later taking off again. From time to time, there are also spot landing contests, which add a little extra excitement for those who enjoy seeing pilots show off their precision flying skills.

Even if you’re not a pilot or an airplane buff, the Fly-In Breakfast offers a fun family-friendly outing. It’s a chance to get up close to aircraft, see static displays on the ramp, and experience the atmosphere of a working regional airport. Kids especially tend to love watching the planes come and go, and it makes for a different kind of Saturday morning activity.

While you’re there, you can also stop in and check out the airport terminal and the Barnstormers restaurant, which have become part of the experience for many who attend. The event combines small-town hospitality, good food, and aviation in a way that’s hard to find just anywhere.

The Fly-In Breakfast is typically held on the third Saturday of most months from March through October, although dates are subject to change. Throughout the season, Enid Woodring Regional Airport welcomes pilots flying in for breakfast and fellowship, while giving the public a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds of general aviation up close.

For anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary this weekend, this is a great excuse to head out to the airport, grab some breakfast, and watch the sky come alive.

Woodring Airport History

Enid Woodring Regional Airport (WDG) is located just 4 miles SE of Enid, OK. It is a full service FBO with all the amenities. The airport now houses Barnstormers restaurant and several rooms of aerospace and military memorabilia.

Enid’s Airport was renamed Enid Woodring Municipal Airport on May 30, 1933 after Lieutenant Irvin A. (Bert) Woodring, born February 1, 1902 in Enid, Oklahoma. Irvin A. Woodring was one of the U.S. Army Air Corps’ “Three Musketeers of Aviation” along with fellow pilots John J. Williams and William Lewers Cornelius. The group performed aerobatics at the National Air Races. J.J. Williams died in practice at Mines Field, Los Angeles on September 11, 1928.

Charles Lindbergh, for whom the three had served as escorts, filled in following Williams death. Two weeks later, W. L. Cornelius died when his plane collided with another plane. On January 20, 1933, Bert Woodring fell 2,000 feet to his death over Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, when his Consolidated P-30 fighter exploded in mid-air.

Within the airport grounds is the former traveling VietNam Memorial Wall, Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, which honors Oklahoma veterans. Ceremonies are held annually on Memorial Day to honor fallen soldiers. A two-story veterans museum at the site is in the works.

Forgotten Ministries will be working alongside the Enid Salvation Army to provide shelter for men this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Due to the extreme winter temperatures, they want to be available for overflow space in case the Salvation Army is full. Right now, they still have 15 beds available. Since they only have space to accommodate men, they will make sure to make extra room for any women who are in need of shelter. They opened Friday night and will remain open all day Saturday and Sunday. Then, they will close Monday morning. Meals, showers, a bed, and a pair of sleep clothes will be available for the men who are in need of their shelter this weekend. 1714 S 4th St. Shelter open for men only.

Stan Clark and Steve File opened Eskimo Joe's bar in July of 1975 in Stillwater and immediately started selling T-shirts with the company logo. The free, two-day event will be held in person at NWOSU’s Enid, Alva, and Woodward campuses and at the University Center in Ponca City, with a virtual registration option via Zoom.

The program begins Thursday at 12:30 p.m. and continues through 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at 6 p.m. featuring Curtis Tucker of Enid Buzz as keynote speaker. Sessions resume Friday at 9 a.m. and conclude around 3 p.m.

Since 2002 thousands of report cards have been submitted. The bank sponsors the program twice a year, once for spring semester grades and once for fall semester grades.

ENID, Okla. - As we reported earlier this year, the end of an era is near. The Tia Juana restaurant will officially close the doors on September 29, 2012. Located at the corner of Grand and Willow, the Tia Juana is a bit of an anomaly. The name, along with many websites on the Internet, would lead you to believe that this "out of the way" eatery might be the best kept secret for Mexican food in Enid, Oklahoma. Quite the opposite would be true. The two signs on the door say it all, "No Mexican Food!" It is the Tia Juana not Tijuana after all.

The Tia Juana has become an Enid institution for locals that enjoy steaks, chicken fry's and hamburgers, all served up in a roadside diner type of atmosphere. Not much has changed at the Tia Juana over the past few decades including the actual building itself, the paneled walls, stained carpet, the gravel parking lot or the fact that you cannot pay with a check or credit card. From the outside, the building looks old, run down and almost scary. Add to that the fact that the restaurant sits almost at the edge of nowhere and is directly across from the cemetery, you might not have ever suggested your out-of-town friends go there alone.

Locals have loved the restaurant for years and stop by just for a cup of Joe. In fact, after doing a survey on EnidBuzz.com it was decided that the Tia Juana restaurant is the oldest eating establishment still operating in Enid. With the help of old city directories we could trace it back to the mid 1930's. The 1948 directory listed the business as the Tia Juana Sandwich Shop at 2327 N. Grand. The eatery most likely has survived all these years on its loyal clientele more than its much ballyhooed food.

Specialties not only include the chicken fry but also the t-bone steak and the famous garlic salad dressing. Many a customer has loved the food but complained about the service. The waitresses actually add an element of color that cannot be had at any other restaurant in town. The diners wait staff range from kind and helpful to bordering on being the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. Whether you love them or could live without them, they sure bring charm to the old place much like the old pictures on the wall.

The current owner, Kenneth Buchanan, has been working at the restaurant for 65 years. He's finally reached the point in his life that it's time to retire. Due to the lack of updates and modernization there is not much hope of selling the restaurant and keeping the tradition alive. Buchanan will auction off the contents and sell the land after the doors have officially closed.

What's the secret to their world famous chicken fried steaks? Here's the recipe we found posted online straight from Glenn Buchanan.

"My grandad, Art Wampler, bought this restaurant in 1944. My mom and dad and sister and I still work here. No one believes how simple our recipe for chicken fried steak is. We don't add any special seasonings. The whole deal is in starting with good beef."

Use choice steak. Tenderize it by pounding. Dip it in a milk and egg batter. Press the flour into it. Deep fat fry in oil that is 350 degrees just until it begins to crisp, about 2 minutes. Finish cooking on a grill or in a skillet. Serve with gravy, if desired.

That's the not-so-secret recipe! If you have not had a Tia Juana chicken fry you had better head on out there this week because it will be your last chance. Enid will be hosting the classes of '65 and '82 reunions this weekend and this would be the perfect spot to spend a little time reminiscing.

Although not the most well known restaurant in town, we'll miss the Tia Juana and appreciate all of the years it has served Enid. We bid a fond farewell to the best Mexican food restaurant that never was.

The Banquet Hall

The banquet Hall features a 3600sq ft loft area overlooking the 5400sq ft main hall. Their stunning feature staircase makes for great wedding pictures. NOC Campus

Conference Rooms

There are two conference rooms in the Gantz Center that are available for use. One will seat fifteen people and the other will seat eighteen. Both rooms have a LCD projector and screen that can be used with any computer while the smaller room also has a 42" video conferencing unit.

Multi-Media Classrooms

As befits a college campus, Northern Oklahoma College has a wide assortment of classrooms that can be rented. All classrooms are equipped with full multi-media capabilities and numerous rooms have SmartBoards installed as well. Seating capacities range from twenty-five (25) to forty-five (45) people. Some classrooms have the traditional desk/chair combinations while others have tables and chairs.

In addition to the standard lecture type classrooms, the campus possesses four Interactive TV studios that can be used to bring webinars, video conferences, etc. into the room. Seating capacity in these studios ranges from fifteen (15) to forty (40) people.

With respect to time availability, most of our classrooms and ITV studios are heavily used during the weekdays from 8 a.m. until around 1 p.m so afternoons, evenings, and weekends are the optimal times for outside groups to use these facilities.

Bivans Chapel

The Bivans Chapel provides a wonderful space for a wedding or a choir/ensemble concert. With traditional pews, beautiful stained glass windows, and a seating capacity of around 200, the Bivans Chapel is an excellent choice for many types of events. Other amenities in the Chapel include a baby grand piano, microphones, CD player, and speakers.

Montgomery Ballroom

The Montgomery Ballroom is our largest space that is available for meetings, dances, banquets, movie showings, etc. As can be seen from the pictures below, the ballroom is a large open space that can be setup to meet a wide variety of needs. The seating capacity will depend on what type of function is being held in the room. For banquets, the capacity is around 200 people and for presentations the room can seat around 350 people.

The ballroom has full multi-media capability that can be used with any computer, a large fixed white screen on the east wall, ceiling mounted LCD projector, microphones, and sound system.

General Purpose Rooms

There are two general purpose rooms in the Gantz Center that can be setup for presentations, small groups, training sessions, etc. GU100 is a large room that can seat around 75 people for dining and it can also be split into three rooms (via sliding accordion doors) if needed. GU110 is a smaller room that can seat around 30 people for dining or around 45 people for presentations. Both rooms are fully multi-media equipped with a computer, LCD projector, and electronic white screen.

A good fun place for weddings or other family functions.They have an actual chapel and a lots of other rooms that function for different uses. Simpson Mercantile ceased in early 2006 and became Skeleton Creek Productions and Simpson's Old Time Museum. The brothers also needed a location to film their adventures, so they constructed a saloon, boardwalk, hotel lobby and room, jail and marshal office and other business fronts in the 90,000 sq foot building. They are planning to add a 100 seat church/school house, general store and bank. If you have several hours to spare, they offer tours at no charge.

Park Avenue Thrift is an Oklahoma 501(c)(3) that exists to strengthen the Enid community and serve others by collecting donations, running a top-notch thrift store, and giving the proceeds to Enid nonprofits that invest in quality-of-life initiatives.

“2023 was an incredible year for Park Avenue Thrift and our community,” said Stela Jantzen, Park Avenue Thrift Executive Director. “We were able to give more to organizations thanks to the record-breaking support from our community through shopping and donations. We also reached the $4 million milestone of dollars given back to nonprofits, classrooms, and events in Enid since 2007.”

In 2023, Park Avenue Thrift gave $473,189.79 to 37 different organizations including: 4RKids, Atelier, Bennie’s Barn, Blue Star Mothers, Boy Scouts of America, Care Campus, Chautauqua Council of Enid, Chisholm Elementary, Chisholm High School, Chisholm Robotics Club, Enid Arts Council, Enid Public Library, Enid Running Club, Enid SOS, Enid SPCA, Enid Symphony Association, Fling at the Springs, FLY Film Festival, Garfield County Master Gardeners, McKinley Elementary, Gaslight Theatre, Hedges Regional Speech and Hearing Center, Leonardo’s Children’s Museum, Loaves and Fishes, Lifelong Learning Institute, Lincoln Academy, Main Street Enid, Northern Oklahoma College, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Old Paws Rescue Ranch, PFLAG Enid, RSVP of Enid, SCL Foundation, Waller Middle School, Woodring Wall of Honor, Youth and Family Services, and YWCA of Enid. Each of these organizations or projects help fulfill Park Avenue’s mission of providing funding to improve Enid’s Quality of Life.

Additionally, Park Avenue sponsored several events at a total of $24,662 in 2023. Park Avenue gave $31,697.24 towards 91 different Enid and Chisholm Public School classroom projects through DonorsChoose and issued $6,027.87 through vouchers with 24 different PAT Voucher Program Partners.

In total Park Avenue Thrift gave back $541,279.28 in 2023 which brings their total giving since 2007 to $4,308,245.87.

Park Avenue focuses on funding visual and/or performing arts, education, environmental sustainability, and projects that keep Enid unique and a place where people want to be. “We are so grateful and happy to be able to fund great Enid organizations and projects this fall, including pottery wheels for Chisholm High School, trees for the Downtown Tree Project for Main Street Enid, and funds for the new Immersive Physics Exhibit at Leonardo’s Children’s Museum” said Stela Jantzen, Park Avenue Thrift Executive Director. “This is all thanks to our amazing shoppers, donors, employees, board members, and everyone who talks about Park Avenue Thrift and what we do. We are all working together for Enid.”

This April, Park Avenue Thrift awarded $277,348.26 in grants to 24 different Enid nonprofits and schools and has currently given $19,093.84 to 62 different Enid classroom projects. Park Avenue has also sponsored several events so far this year such as, Enid Symphony Sagebrush fundraiser, Outreach to Teach at Coolidge, Youth and Family Gala, Hedges Speech and Hearing Silent Nite on the Town, Leonardo’s Spring Break, Michael Hedges Documentary, Gaslight Theatre’s Once, CDSA Wine Tour, Gaslight Theatre’s Kids Camp, Atelier Spring concert, and Gaslight Theatre’s A Christmas Story.

Between community grants, school funding, and sponsorships this brings their total giving so far in 2023 to $520,895.88 and their total since 2007 to $4,287,862.47. Park Avenue reached a milestone of $4 million dollars given back to the Enid community this spring.
