Georgia Maxine Gritz

February 22, 1925 - October 16, 2020

The graveside service for Georgia M. Gritz, 95 year-old Enid resident will be 2:00PM Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in the Hennessey Cemetery. Pastor John Sheffield officiating. There will be a visitation Monday evening from 5PM to 7PM in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Face-masks and social distancing required for visitation and graveside please.

Georgia was born February 22, 1925 in Marshall, Oklahoma to Warner and Frieda (Ficken) Elrod and died Friday, October 16, 2020 in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She attended Lacy Schools.

On February 28, 1942 she married Benjamin “Harry” Norris. Harry was in the service so the couple lived in various towns before making Enid their home. In 1950 the couple moved to Ames where they farmed until Harry retired. Georgia was an excellent homemaker in addition to volunteering for numerous organizations, including FFA and 4H. She also worked at the Major County Election Board.

She was a long time member of Ames Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and helped in the nursery. She loved arts and crafts, especially crochet and painting ceramics. She also enjoyed all kinds of puzzles.

She is survived by her children, Larry L. Norris of Collinsville, OK, Jacque and Doug Hart of Ponca City, Susan and Craig Bymaster of Enid, and Danny J. and wife Angi Norris of Green River, Wyoming, two Step-children, Bert Gritz ands Beth Hale and husband Ron. 16 grandchidren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, her husband Bob, two brothers, Doyle Lee and Ray and a sister Joan, and her amazing daughter-in-law Marsha Norris

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to either The Commons Retirement Community or Ames Church of Christ.
