United Way Hires New Director

ENID, OK - After a very thorough search process, the United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma officially hired Dan Schiedel as its new Executive Director/CEO on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
-
Numerous local, state and even some national candidates applied for the position.  The search committee interviewed a highly qualified pool of semi-finalists on February 8th and 9th.  At the conclusion of those interviews, the committee named Dan Schiedel as the Lone Finalist, completed the contract negotiation process, and then made a final recommendation to the full United Way Board on Thursday.

Dan Schiedel replaces Pamela Ballard who served very successfully in this position for the past four years.  She recently left to take a position in Tulsa with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Since her departure, former local United Way CEO Sean Byrne has been filling in on a temporary, part-time basis.
-
Dan Schiedel comes to this position with a great deal of Executive Director and management experience in the areas of fundraising, financial management, securing major gifts, grant writing, and nonprofit investment management.  Most recently, he served as the Executive Director and General Manager of the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) in Oklahoma City for four years.  Prior to that, he worked for Rogers State University from 2006-2012.  He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota.  He has been married to his wife Sharon for 33 years, and they have two kids and five grandkids.
-
Dan and his wife Sharon have already found a place to live here in Enid.  They plan to move here during the weekend of March 4-5, and Dan’s first day on the job as Enid’s new United Way Executive Director/CEO will be Monday, March 6th.
