(August 31, 2015) A long time Enid eatery is about to get better. Known to many as having the best tacos anywhere, Taco Bandito is expanding to a second location on the west side. Residents have been driving all the way across town just to get a fix of their famous nacho's, burritos and tacos.

Taco Bandito started in 1968 as Taco Grande, located on South Van Buren in Enid, Oklahoma. Customers from the ’60s and ‘70s still talk about the red shag carpet that was on the walls and the infamous Hank and Iggy dart game that hung in the dining room. The teenagers loved hanging out, meeting up with their friends and playing the jukebox.

In 1982, the Lash family purchased Taco Grande and eventually changed the name to Taco Bandito. In January of 2014 Karen retired and the Slater family took over keeping all of the same great flavors and atmosphere that customers loved over the years.
-
Customers from the good old days still seek out Taco Bandito on a regular basis and every year, especially around the holidays and reunions, stop by to eat when they are in town. Many, now in their 40s and 50s, share their memories and ask if the owners will be putting in a Taco Bandito in their town or state because they have never found any quite as good.
-
The mall location will be open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be closed on Sundays. Owner, Eli Slater, hopes to have the new location open by October 1.

Taco Bandito will be hiring the second week of September but is currently accepting applications at the Willow location.
