Self-Serve Dog Wash Looking For Feedback

ENID, Okla. - Enid currently has a very unique service for dog owners. It's a self-serve dog wash with elevated tub and everything you need to get your dog fresh and clean. The business is called Sit & Stay Self-Serve Dog Wash and has been open since February and is located in the little white building at 902 W. Broadway.
-
Tina Helms, owner of Sit & Stay Pet Sitting, opened the business as an extension of her other pet services. Since opening they have been overwhelmed by the positive response they have received from those who have utilized the service.
-
Helms intent has been to provide a convenient, clean, safe & pleasant facility for bathing your K-9 friends. The feedback from customers has been 100% positive as you can learn from reading the reviews here on their Facebook Page.
-
Unfortunately, as with many new businesses, word has been slow to get out. The service needs a steady volume of clients to maintain the location they are in. Currently Helms is looking into alternatives for the venture if the flow of traffic does not increase. She would love feedback from the community on these alternatives:
-
First, if anyone is interested they would love to find a buyer for the business. It might be better served to combine the dog-wash facility with some other service to help justify and share the costs involved. They lease the building, but have invested considerable expense installing the elevated wash tubs, shampoo/conditioner dispensing system and drying stations. These could possibly be utilized in conjunction with grooming, dog-training or other pet-service functions. They would be happy to discuss any reasonable offer.
-
A second possibility is transitioning to a member-based system for the dog wash. Rather than providing regular business hours and staff, members could pay $20/month for unlimited access to bathe their pets whenever is most convenient. This would be accomplished through an electronic lock with card access for members. First-time visitors would be by appointment where they get a tour of the facility and use of the equipment and are then provided the key-card for future access.
-
Without full-time staffing, they wouldn’t be able to keep the facility quite as clean & fresh. Currently they sanitize the tubs after each customer visit which would no longer be possible. They would like to know if this is a service that you would be interested in? Do you think the $20/month price-point is reasonable? Is the 24-hour access a benefit to you? Please provide comments on their Facebook Post in regard to these questions.
-
A third option is to go to an appointment-only scheduling system which they feel is probably the least-convenient for customers but most profitable for the business. This option would require a much greater business volume than they currently have to sustain.
-
Helms is also looking to spend more time with family and friends and plans on retiring from her Sit & Stay Pet Sitting business. She would hate to leave her current customers without any options as far as dog walking and sitting so she is also searching for anyone that would like to purchase that side of her business.
