SEARS Files Bankruptcy-SEARS Hometown Remains Open

ENID, OK - Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy protection early Monday after years of staying afloat through financial maneuvering and relying on billions of CEO Eddie Lampert's own money. Lampert, who has served as CEO for the past five years, will step down from that post, effective immediately, but remain chairman. As part of the bankruptcy, Sears will shutter 142 stores toward the end of the year. It expects to begin liquidation sales shortly.

However, Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. is not a part of the bankruptcy filling by Sears Holdings Corporation and will remain open! Enid's Sears Hometown store has released a statement regarding their status:
-
"Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc. is NOT part of the bankruptcy filing by Sears Holdings Corporation. Although we have business relationships with Sears Holdings, we are a publicly owned company that separated from Sears Holdings in 2012. We are a national retailer primarily focused on selling home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools and hardware. Our dealers are independent businesspeople who are actively involved in their businesses and their communities. It remains Business as usual at Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores. We look forward to continuing to provide you with outstanding service, value and convenience."
