Ray Eugene Eggleston

The graveside services celebrating and honoring the life of Ray Eugene Eggleston, 91, of Edmond formally of Enid will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. Military honors will be held by the United States Army. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Ray was born July 1, 1927 to William and Clara Olive Harald in Waynoka Ok.

The family soon moved to Lytle Tx. where he was raised and educated graduating from Lytle High School in 1945. He then moved to Alva Ok. where he met his wife Olive. They were married September 9, 1945. Later the same month on the 27th of September he joined the United States Army. He served as a supply line convoy truck driver with the Head Quarters Company.

After his honorable discharge the couple moved to Chickasha and then shortly after to Enid where they made their home. He first worked as a milk man and then went to Chicago and was formally trained in heat and air. He owned and operated Eggleston Heat and Air for nearly 15 years. He then went to work for Montgomery Word in their plumbing, heating and air department until he was medically unable due to injuries, he received in service to his country. In 2005 he moved to Edmond to be near to family. He was a natural tinkerer and just because it was not broken did not mean it did not need to be fixed.

He is survived by Daughters; Ladonna Self and husband James of Edmond and Gwenda Milligan and husband Norman of Clay Center Ks. Son; Verle Eggleston and wife Pamela of Yukon, Grandchildren; Richard, William and wife Ali, Ray and wife Sharon, Amy and husband James, Sherry and husband Wayne and Lisa, Great Grandchildren; Daniel, Mariae, Catty, Aubrey, Tristen, Sophie, Alexis, James, Kylee, Kaelynn and Aidan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one grandson Jonathan.

Memorials may be made in his name to the VA Hospital with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
