Phillips University Fire
Over the past few years we have been collecting vintage photos relating to Enid. We currently have a batch of photos that include a large collection of events from Phillips University. There are many photos of PU students and PU events. Along with this collection are these two photos. They look very much like a building that might have been on campus.
Does anyone have any information or history on what building this might have been that burned? Please let us know!

Along with the pictures above there were a few of a trip to Lincoln Park in OKC. The writing on the back of those say Spring ’48.
Old Main is all I’ve ever heard it referred to.
We also received this reply from Char Robinson: The Third Administration saw the destruction by fire of “Old Main” in the early morning of May 24, 1947. Nothing in the building was saved except the contents of two fire-proof vaults. The loss was estimated at $500,000.00.
I have an old photo album full of photos of Phillips Univ. that belonged to my wife’s aunt, Ruth Myers, who attended Phillips around 1933. We would like to donate it to the university or someone who maintains their archives. Any suggestions?
