Otis J. Ruth

The Funeral Services celebrating and honoring the life of Otis J. Ruth, 79, of Enid, formerly of Tishomingo will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday January 15, 2019 in the Abundant Life Cathedral in Tishomingo, OK. Burial will follow in the Condon Grove Cemetery in Tishomingo, OK. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Otis Ruth was born June 28, 1939 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Ocie Cernell and Martha Edna (Leatherwood) Ruth and passed from this life on January 11, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.

He was raised and educated in Tishomingo, and Fox OK. He attended Fox High School. He married Carolyn Tackett on June 16, 1956 in Fox, Oklahoma. The couple made their home and started their family in Haywood, California, outside of Oakland. They returned to Oklahoma making their home in Ratliff City. In 1996 the couple moved to Enid to be near their daughters and grandchildren. He always had a large garden. No matter where he lived, he always had a cup of coffee and played dominoes. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a fierce family man and always put his family first.

He is survived by one son, Tony Ruth, of Ratliff City, OK., three daughters, Marcie Lee of Riverside, CA., Deborah President, of Enid, OK., and Michelle Christian, of Enid, OK. nine grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Three sisters, Pauline Edwards, of Tishomingo, OK., Charlene and Lonnie Sorrel, of New Castle, OK., Hazel Ruth, of Ardmore, OK., and many, many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn Ruth, father and mother, Ocie and Edna Ruth of Tishomingo, OK., brother, Oscar Ruth, of Fox, OK., sisters, Judy Wallace, of Oklahoma City, OK., and Virginia Higginbotham, of Tishomingo, OK.
