New Development To Include Movie Theater & Restaurants

ENID, OK - Following an executive session held Thursday evening in the city administration building, the Enid City Council approved the sale of a tract of land located at Cleveland and Owen K. Garriott to Kyle Williams.
-
Williams is the President of Hammer Williams Co. and Jiffy Trip. His company Williams Broadcasting owns KOFM and KGWA radio stations. He is also a partner in Xpress Wellness Urgent Care as well as owning several other companies.
-
According to City Manager Jerald Gilbert, the city will receive $1.35 million dollars for the property also known as Lahoma Courts and $2.048 million dollars in infrastructure improvements that support development. Gilbert said preliminary plans from the sales agreement include developing the property in conjunction with a Colton's Steakhouse and Grill, Jiffy Trip and a movie theater.

Enid Mayor Bill Shewey said, "I am excited that Mr. Williams, a local businessman and developer wants to invest in our great community. I look forward to seeing good things take place in this popular area in Enid. Once again, it's a great day in Enid, Oklahoma."
-
During the study session Thursday night commissioners were told that the money to purchase the Lahoma Courts properties would be appropriated from Enid Municipal Authority cash reserves. Tenants in the homes will be asked to move before closing and are currently renting month to month so there are no lease agreements.
-
The City of Enid has been working on this location for five years. The city already owned 22 properties and will be purchasing 25 more. There is one property that will be left to be acquired by someone at some point.
-
The commission voted 5-0 to approve the $2.1 million purchase of the properties. Ward 5 Commissioner Tammy Wilson and Ward 6 Commissioner George Pankonin were absent during the vote. The commission then went into executive session to consider development of the Lahoma Courts property. After executive session, the commission again voted 5-0 to approve an agreement with Kyle Williams to develop the property.
-
The City of Enid had formerly invested in the properties at Cleveland and Garriott in an agreement to sell the properties to developer Hunt Properties. That deal fell through in the spring of 2016. The city was unable to purchase two of 23 properties it had agreed to buy at that time.

In August 1996, the first Colton's Steak House & Grill location opened its doors in Conway, Arkansas. Today, all CSHG restaurants operate as franchises, with locations in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The eatery has a broad menu offering exceptional food and service, with a casual Western atmosphere.

Hey Chris anymore news if Enid gets a casino we need more revenue and to create jobs and attract people to visit and shop here I thought target was coming in need a big lots back or home Depot there’s not to many places to shop for appliances Lowe’s and Walmart are pretty much Enids only options to shop anymore I wished the city would listen to it’s people for what they want and is needed in Enid to grow the loss of Kmart Sears and other business is sad and a small town like Perry has a casino and ditch witch keeps their community thriving Enid residents drive and spend their money there why not keep our money in our town it’s crazy to turn down positive things for our community and force us to drive to OKC or Tulsa to spend money when it can stay here thanks Jennifer Ginn.

I doubt you are going to get anyone to stop by Enid to do some shopping. Seriously??? Is this a joke? Where would they shop? There is no place to shop in Enid. I have to shop online or go to OKC because Enid is a joke. You cannot even go to the grocery store & find everything you need in one place. Now Dillard’s is closing so the Mall will be next. Does not matter since it’s never been much of a Mall IMO.

We are going to spend over $2 million to only get $1.35 million. Sounds like a bunch of geniuses on the board. I agree that it will be nice to have another steak house and movie theater. We sure the heck don’t need another gas station. We have one on almost every corner now.
