New City Commissioners Fill Unexpired Terms

ENID, OK - The Enid City Commission met Thursday, February 23 for their regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting began with proclamations of appreciation for Rodney Timm and Dr. David Vanhooser. Timm was in attendance while Vanhooser was unable to attend.

Appointments are needed to fill unexpired terms due to the resignations of Ward 4 Commissioner Rodney Timm, which became effective February 16, 2017, and Ward 6 Commissioner David Vanhooser, which became effective February 14, 2017.

The City Charter states that vacancies in the office of Mayor and Commissioners will be filled by the board of commissioners until the next general municipal election at which time the electors of the ward will elect their commissioner. The two Commissioners agreed to fill the vacant terms until May, after which they will fulfill their elected terms to May 2021.

At the February 14, 2017 general municipal election, Mr. Jonathan Waddell was elected to serve as Ward 4 Commissioner, and Mr. George Pankonin was elected to serve as Ward 6 Commissioner. Both seats run through May 2021.

Municipal Judge Jim Long administered the Oath of Office to the newly appointed Commissioners, after which time the Commissioners took their respective seats on the Commission.
