The funeral service for Loren Everett Franke, 89 year-old former Enid resident will be 1:30PM Monday, October 8, 2018 in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel. Rev. Gary Lillie officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Loren was born May 3, 1929 in Enid to Elmer and Hazel (Hasbrook) Franke and died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Terrell, Texas. He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High with the class of 1947. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and his unit was deployed to Korea. After Korea, on June 21, 1953 he married Jo Ann Biggs in St. Luke’s Methodist Church. The family made their home in Enid. Loren worked at the Champlin Refinery.

He continued with his National Guard Service for another 20 years and was the Unit Commander of the Enid National Guard 189th Field Artillery. They moved to Corpus Christi in 1975 for Loren’s work. They retired to Colorado in 1994.

He was a member of the Bethel Hawley Church. He enjoyed woodworking and as his college degree was in Geology he was interested in many facets…..including panning for gold.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of Fort Garland, CO. , his three children, David Franke and wife Debbie of Austin, TX. , Valorie Franke of Fort Garland, CO. and Bronwyn Gogia and husband John of Naples, Fla. 8 grandchildren; David, Candice, Megan, Melissa, Hillary, Sarah, Bailey, and Kasey. 7 great-grandchildren, one brother Nate, and a sister Peggy. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Cynthia Sue Franke, his brother Walter and sister Maida.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the Sierra Grande High School in Fort Garland.
