Leonardo's Emerging Artists

ENID, OK - With Park Avenue Thrift’s blessing, Leonardo’s Children’s Museum will be managing a beloved program called Emerging Artists. “We are excited to continue this great program of getting art into the classroom,” says Executive Director Tracy Bittle. She adds that inspiring children and creating fun learning opportunities is part of Leonardo’s mission.

Studies show that art instruction is important because it helps children with motor skills development, language skills, social skills and how to develop creative problem-solving skills.
-
The Emerging Artist program lets teachers bring art concepts into their classrooms with support from Leonardo’s. Each Fall and Spring various art topics are introduced. Curriculum varies depending on the grade but is art focused. The program is for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Students create the art and have an opportunity to have their artwork displayed at Leonardo’s for the community to enjoy. Students and teachers can earn prizes with the program, but the goal is to have fun and learn about art. Leonardo’s utilizes Oklahoma State Certified teachers in designing the curriculum.

Emerging Artists should be in place in March and for more information about Leonardo’s go online to leonardos.org or check Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
