Many of us grew up dragging Van Buren in high school while others cruised Van Buren. Either way, it’s time to reunite and relive the glory days. A group calling themselves the VanBuren Cruisers has reunited on Facebook with the help of Darla Dalton Robbins.
Darla’s Facebook page now has almost 1,500 members and continues to grow. There are dozens of old Van Buren cruising cars and stories from the past. You can visit the Facebook page at VanBuren Cruisers Facebook Page.
The group is having a Van Buren cruise reunion on June 18th and 19th from 7pm to midnight. They will circle around McDonalds on one end and then down to the old Boy’s Market on the south end. T-shirts have been ordered that say VANBUREN CRUISERS 2010 on them. If you need more details or have questions you can email Darla Dalton Robbins at vanburencruisers@mail.com.

I, myself think the cruisin Van Buren is sort of silly, but seeing that there are almost 2000 people that are members of the crusin Van Buren FB page, and reading that over 700 people signed in for the event, there are people out there that enjoy stuff like that.
I do remember dragging Van Buren a couple of times when ever I went out on the town, but I would honk the kk honk and the other club honk just to annoy them. And boy did I annoy them.. Course I thought the girls clubs were silly too.
My husband Don and I went to the the Van Buren Cruisers June 18th and 19th and had a blast!! We seen a lot of people out there having fun honking and parking on the side of the street. We parked with a few friends and took pictures and talked about the old times. I met some new people and enjoyed myself. I didn’t graduated from Enid but, ran around with my cousins and we would come out to “drag” the streets like everyone else.

I graduated from Kremlin in ’82 but ran around in Enid with friends and family. Loved the good ole fun days of the 80′s. We plan to go again in August and sounds like it will be even better with all the things planned! Hope to see you all there!
Good luck on your cruise night, I” glad to see they’re still dragging Van Buren. I made the circuit from the Sonic to the A-W in a 1951 Ford. I was stationed at Vance from March 1961 to April 1962 and have lot’s good memories. Back then if you had a small block Chevy with drag pipes, you ruled. Have a good cruise night.
I remember to well dragging Van Buren. All I can say is its a time I will always treasure. I had so much fun and met so many people. And got into a little trouble every now and then. *sighs* oh how I remember!
