Ham Radio Celebrates the Chisholm Trail

Enid, Okla. — The Enid Amateur Radio Club will be partnering with other amateur radio clubs from Texas to Kansas to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Chisholm Trail.  This special Ham Radio event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017.  The Enid Amateur Radio Club will be transmitting from Humphrey Heritage Village at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center, 507 S. 4th Street in Enid.

The public is invited to visit the Heritage Center and learn more about Ham Radio and the Chisholm Trail during this special event. Participating amateur radio clubs up and down the Chisholm Trail will be sharing their own local stories about the famed trail and will be answering questions about the history of the Chisholm Trail from those visiting in person or over the airwaves.

The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center will open a new large scale exhibit on May 5 celebrating the history of the Chisholm Trail.  The exhibit is sponsored by The James C. and Teresa K. Day Foundation and will be on display in the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation Gallery through September 16, 2017.
