ENID, OK - We covered most everything going on in Enid this last year and there was one event that topped all others. There wasn't even a close second in terms of reach and engagement on social media.
-
The interest in the transport of the demethanizer from Oklahoma to Colorado was nothing short of overwhelming. Our numbers were off the charts when it came to visits to our website and views of our video of the object turning onto Carrier Rd.

A 186-foot long (17 story) demethanizer is being transported from Exterran in Broken Arrow to a gas processing plant in Fort Lupton, Colorado. It is being moved through Oklahoma on a specially designed trailer pulled by two trucks in front and pushed by two trucks in back. A demethanizer is used in extracting hydrocarbon liquids from natural gas.
-
The demethanizer left Broken Arrow early Saturday, and reached Enid on Wednesday morning.
-
The transport will cross I-35 up by Billings and will go north through Pond Creek before coming back south down 81. It will eventually go north of Enid on Carrier Road and then west on 412 to Woodward.
-
The whole set up is 427 feet long and weigh more than 1.1 million pounds. The transport will exit Oklahoma at Liberal, Kansas as it makes its way to Colorado. Weather permitting, the move should take about two weeks.
