“The concept for Christmas Villages came from a realization that much of the great Christmas music came from smaller villages. The prime example being the carol Silent Night (Stille Nacht) which originated in the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Oberndorf bei Salzburg on Christmas Eve, 1818. Selections will include both sacred and secular seasonal selections ranging from the Renaissance to the present. The ever popular music of Mannheim Steamroller founder Chip Davis will be woven among traditional carol settings by English composer John Rutter and Christmas. To add to the sonic color of the music, the traditional ESO instrumentation will be augmented by digital sounds, recorders and acoustic guitar.” Douglas Newell
