ENID, OK - UPDATE: Due to the likelihood of thunderstorms tomorrow morning and afternoon, Enid Pride will be moving to Oakwood Mall, 4125 W Owen K Garriott Rd, in the old Goody's store on the south side of the building.

Enid Pride is a free to attend, family-friendly event hosted by the Enid LGBTQ Coalition, geared to be welcoming to and attended by the general public. Enid Pride aims to not only bring visibility to the diversity in our community, but also to promote unity, understanding, and education in a safe environment that is appropriate for people of all ages. With vendors, food, live music, and fun activities, Enid Pride attracts hundreds of visitors from across the region each year.

Pride weekend will start Friday, September 20th with "Broadway Backwards" at Gaslight Theatre. The show, Gaslight's third, will take place at 7:00 P.M. in the Turpin at Gaslight. Tickets will be $15, available online at www.gaslighttheatre.org or at the box office at (580) 234-2307. Hosted by Enid queen Amber Lynne and accompanied by pianist Nancy Johnson and drummer Jason Carris, both Enid musicians, performers will be doing “gender-bent” versions of songs from musicals including “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Dear Evan Hansen” and “Into the Woods.”

The Enid Pride 2019 picnic will be held the following day from 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., on Saturday, September 21st at Oakwood Mall. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the first Enid Pride, held in 2009 and we are celebrating with the theme “Out For a Decade’'.

James Phillips with Hit Play DJ will be providing DJ services during the Pride picnic, as well as the after-party. Entertainment will include guest speakers, a family-friendly drag show, our first ever Mr. & Miss Enid Pride drag pageant, hosted by Miss Enid America 2019 Shalula Queen, and live musical performances from New Time Zones, Lez Jaaam, Functional Polly, and others!

The Mr. & Miss Enid Pride Pageant is open to all female-identified contestants (Female Impersonators, Trans Women and Femme entertainers) and Male identified contestants (Male Impersonators, Trans Men and Male Entertainers) ages 18+. Contestants will be judged in the following categories: Talent, Pride Wear, Question and Answer. Register early, as spaces are limited. Registration forms are available at enidlgbtcoalition.org/enid-pride. The Pageant will be divided into two segments, starting at 1:00 PM downtown Enid on the square, and finishing at 9:00 PM at Eventful Events in Oakwood Mall at the after-party. Registration is from 11:30 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. at the Enid LGBTQ Coalition booth.

There will be exciting activities going on throughout the day, including our third annual flag parade, drag queen story hour, presentations by “The Reptile Guy” Dr. Aaron Place with live reptiles from the NWOSU biology department, tables for board and card games, animal adoptions, photo ops, face painting, glitter bombs, and more!

They will be selling Enid Pride discount cards for $10 that will be valid starting September 21, 2019 through September 30, 2020. Cards may be purchased at the Enid LGBTQ Coalition booth.

There will be 57 vendors this year, breaking last year’s record, and will include both returning vendors and those new to Enid Pride. From LGBTQ+ Pride gear to local artists, animal lovers, and nonprofits to CBD, board game enthusiasts, and food trucks with delicious treats, there’s a little something for everyone at Enid Pride.

While the indoor picnic ends at 5:00 P.M., the festivities will continue at 8:00 P.M. at Eventful Events in Oakwood Mall. There will be a cash bar, a drag show, dancing, and the completion of the Mr. & Miss Enid Pride Pageant and crowning of winners, who will each perform their celebratory number. James Phillips with Hit Play DJ will be there to DJ, with Miss Enid America Shalula Queen as host and drag performances by various other performers. Entry fee to the after-party is $10 for individuals or $15 for two people. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.

Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, to work the event where needed, and to help clean up at the end of the day. Anyone interested in volunteering should go to our website enidlgbtcoalition.org/enid-pride to register online. Volunteers who work at least two hours will be able to purchase an Enid Pride t-shirt at half-price and will receive free entry to the after-party.
