The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Brian Seigars, 56, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday September 1, 2018 in Central Christian Church with Pastor Kevin Choate officiating. Cremation will follow. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born June 29, 1962 in San Antonio, Texas to James Arthur “Red” and Gypsy Rose Seigars and passed from this life August 22, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

He lived in many places throughout his childhood during his father’s military career. He attended the Tehran American School in Iran before moving to Rochester, New Hampshire. He was active in Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Spaulding High School where he was a star athlete playing football, baseball, and basketball. He graduated in 1979. After High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force in November 1980 and served his country as an Air Traffic Controller. He married Wanda Hamel (Jolley) and from this union came four children. After many relocations, he and his family moved to Enid. He was well loved by all that he served with and was an avid entertainer, always enjoying the company of others. He earned two associate degrees while serving. He received multiple honors throughout his military career. He was honorably discharged in November of 2000 and attained the rank of TSGT having served his country for 20 years. He then began his career as an Air Traffic Controller with the Department of Defense in Wichita Falls, Texas. He always enjoyed cooking and would regularly prepare meals for the men at the base. If anyone did not have a place to go for the holidays he made sure they came to his home. He retired from the Department of Defense in 2014 after 14 years.

He loved collecting and reading American history, spoke multiple languages, and was a published poet and short story writer. He always had a disposable camera and would make very detailed scrap books, giving many of them as gifts to those he loved. He enjoyed music and would always carry a harmonica in his car hoping for a song to play along. He enjoyed playing poker, dominoes, and pinochle with his family and friends, as well as playing the card tables and slot machines at casinos. He was an avid sports fan loving all teams Boston, as well as the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to coach his children’s sports teams. He also loved playing for and coaching the Loring AFB Northstars baseball team and the Vance Talons softball team, winning many tournaments and championships. He was an adventurer who loved to travel, especially road trips with his children. The time he enjoyed the most was the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. In 2016 he was engaged to Joyce King. He and Joyce loved their time together and were always active on cruises, concerts, family activities, and attending OKC Thunder games (their favorite).

He is survived by his fiancée of the home, Joyce King; his son, Jason Seigars and wife Allison; daughters Jennifer Shaw, Jessica Seigars, and Jayme Sultan and husband Iyad, all of Enid; and Joyce’s children, Melissa Griffin and husband, Caleb, of Oklahoma City, and son Scott Stottlemyre of Dallas, Texas; his father, James Arthur “Red” Seigars; brothers, Ricky Perkins and wife Sylvia of Georgia, Danny Arnold and wife Lynn of Georgia, and Donny Seigars and partner Toni Gilbert of Texas; grandchildren; Miceala, Dillan, Kaylina, Andre, KeiYanna, Gwyneth, Ellowyn, Kaiser, Amelia, and Noah; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is proceeded in death by a stillborn daughter, Jaden Alise; mother, Gypsy Rose (O’Bannon) Seigars; infant brother, Herbie Allen Arnold; grandparents, Earl and Saddie O’Bannon of Texas, and James and Minnie Seigars of Maine.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans, OU Children’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
