Bill Shewey Receives Mayor of the Year Award

ENID, OK - Bill Shewey, Mayor of Enid, is the recipient of the 2018 Oklahoma Mayor of the Year Award representing communities with more than 5,000 in population. He was presented the award from the Mayors Council of Oklahoma (MCO) during the Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) Annual Conference awards banquet on Thursday, September 13 in Oklahoma City.

Throughout his 35 years in Enid, Bill Shewey has faithfully volunteered his time to countless community organizations. Mayor Shewey has served compassionately (without salary) as mayor of Enid since 2011. He has volunteered incalculable hours to the Enid City Council government by leading countless meetings. His love for Enid and the quest for enhancing the quality of life in the Enid community are immeasurable.

The MCO award recognizes the dedication and commitment brought to the highest elected post in municipal government. Criteria for consideration requires nominees to be a MCO member and in elected municipal office at the time of the presentation. Additionally, nominees must complete a minimum of three years of service in an elected municipal office and their municipality must be an OML member.
