Alfred "Joe" Joseph Bamberg, Jr.

The funeral for Alfred “Joe” Bamberg Jr., 82 year-old Covington resident will be10:00am Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Covington Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service at the Church.

Joe was born May 23, 1935 in Kingfisher to Alfred J. and Jennie (Wakeman) Bamberg and died April 24, 2018 in Greenbrier Nursing Home.

He graduated from Big 4High School In 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 45th Infantry Division. On August 7, 1960 he married Hellen Unruh. The couple made their home in Covington where Joe continued to farm the family property. In the mid-seventies he took an additional job with Johnston Seed Company. He also worked at the Covington Livestock Auction for more than 30 years.

He liked sports, especially baseball, as well as hunting, fishing, and just enjoying the outdoors, and supported his local community.

He is survived by his sons; AJ Bamberg III. and wife Helen, and son Stephen Bamberg. Four grandchildren, brother Bill and sister Phyllis Warner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hellen, son John, and daughter Mary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made through Henninger-Hinson to Tri-County Senior Citizen’s Center or Hospice Circle of Love.
