Enid's Meadowlake

Meadowlake Trail Photos

ENID, Okla. -  The other day when I was walking the new leg of the Enid Walking Trail to Garland I ran into a couple that informed me that there was also another new section of the trail that ran south. This new stretch started at Rupe and ran to Meadowlake.
-
On my next walking excursion I ventured onto the trail with my iPhone camera in hand to head south. This adventure began at S. Hayes, near the big bridge, and took me along the side of the drainage ditch.
-
The southern trail had ended at Rupe but now ran the length of the flood control ditch all the way to Meadowlake. The view is great as you can see Meadowlake Golf Course across the way. For those that were unaware, the large flood control ditch drains into the west side of Meadowlake.
-
The new southern trail ends right about where the ditch dumps into Meadowlake. There, it connects to the old original walking trail that winds through the trees on the north side of Meadowlake. The old trail is much skinnier and can be found right underneath the new water tower.
-
This part of the trail includes great looking views of a wheat field, a meadow with barn and a great looking stuco house. There are also some great looking trees north of the park. I got off the trail near the north parking lot and made my way to the train bridge. I also walked back along the drainage ditch to capture some views that are just off the trail.
-
Below are my latest photos taken at sunrise on the trail. With the water tower as the background it makes for some great shots. If you haven't been on the new section you should get outdoors and check it out.

    Beautiful pics, Buzz!

The first time I took the trail this winter from Rupe to the Ferris wheel at Meadowlake, I was disappointed to find that the two-lane trail abruptly hooked up with the older, more sidewalk-sized original trail. After bicycling on it a few times, I have found that the width of the older trail wasn’t a problem because there is not as much traffic on this leg as there is on other parts of our trail.
