Can You Say Free Concert?
It doesn't get much better than this Enid. An awesome singer coming to Enid just to perform in a cozy atmosphere and the fee for admission... free. Gather a group of friends and plan on a fun evening at DaVinci's Coffee House. Kinsey Charles is a rising star with a cool sound wrapped around some very strong lyrics. I would describe her sound as a mix of Shawn Colvin and Cheryl Crow. The Oklahoma native attended Washington High School and Oklahoma Baptist University. Get to the Coffee House early as seating is limited. 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, DaVinci's Coffee House, 2315 W. Willow. Copies of Charles' CD will be available at DaVinci's. Visit her site for sound clips or to order a CD. Website.

Enid Children's Author Tells Story of 'Jungle Friends'
Enid, Oklahoma, resident and author Brenda Salladay has written a new children's story, titled "Jungle Friends: Leo the Lion and the Big Bug Dilemma." Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book was released nationwide Sept. 30th. Salladay's book tells the story of Leo the Lion who is feeling badly and doesn't know what to do. All of Leo's friends gather together to come up with a solution. Zack the Zebra, Ted the Tiger, Gary the Giraffe and Earl the Elephant all try to help, but Mack the Monkey is the one with the idea. The book is available at any bookstore nationwide or can be ordered through the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com or target.com. "Jungle Friends" is also an eLIVE title, meaning each copy contains a code redeemable for a free audio download of the book from TatePublishing.com. eLIVE - Listen, Imagine, View, and Experience! Brenda earned her degree in early childhood education and is an active member in her church teaching Sunday school. Brenda was born and raised in Oklahoma, moving to Enid in 1990. She is married with four children, 3 boys and 1 girl. She also has 1 granddaughter. The three boys all went military right from high school and she is a blue star mom. Her daughter is in 4th grade at Lahoma. Brenda has always liked to write and make up stories, but in high school she began to dream of being published. The dream stayed there but she let other things push it to the back burner. Since being in Enid, she has been in the child care field and worked for Dr. Sloat, where she is currently employed. For five years she had a daycare in her home and during that time she attended school at Northern, Enid. One of the classes was a class for early childhood literature and she had to do project using childrens book. Brenda asked the teacher if she could get extra credit if she wrote her own childrens story. She wrote the story Jungle Friends for that class and presented it as a felt board story. The teacher encouraged Brenda to get the story published. It took several years but finally her dream became reality, when Tate Publishing, published her book.
