Downtown First Friday - September 2009
It's that time again and the first Friday of September is not only being celebrated with the monthly Downtown First Friday activities but also the Enid High School homecoming and the first football game of the season.
Several businesses will remain open late Friday night and there will be special music and activities at restaurants and shops around the Square.
To kick off Library Card Sign-up Month, the library will be participating in First Friday by extending their hours until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4th. The event will include a showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a Basic Jewelry Making: Earrings class for adults, and the opportunity for patrons to participate in an exciting scavenger hunt around the library for prizes, including a grand prize of $100.00.
For the Earrings class at 7:00 p.m., all of the supplies are provided for you to create a small piece of wearable art. Learn a few new skills & make a beautiful pair of handmade earrings. If you have a sweet tooth and like solving puzzles, participate in our Wonka scavenger hunt and find Golden Library Cards hidden in the building for a chance to win $100.00. Drawing will be at 8:30 p.m. Or just stop in and get a new library card.
For more information on how to sign up for a library card or for a printed calendar of September events, visit the Public Library of Enid & Garfield County at 120 W. Maine Ave, call (580) 234-6313, or visit the library online at http://www.enid.org/library or at their blog http://plegcblog.wordpress.com. They're also on Facebook and Twitter!
The library will be open on Saturday, September 5th but will be closed on Monday, September 7th for the Labor Day Holiday. Items can be returned to the library during closed hours in the Book Drop, located in the alley between the Library and the Post Office on the north side of the building.
